I fell off the wagon a bit. Last year in August I published a blog post “How to easily read more books before 2020 is over“. Things started off strong. There I was reading every day. Even finished 2 books that I wanted to read and then POW I just stopped. I don’t know why, but I am bringing the #Redonkulousbookchallenge back.

I want to share my reading list for 2021. This is just the beginning. I don’t have all of these books, but I plan on buying them in the future when I need them. I have the first 6 books on my list. So let’s jump in and hope that you find some books to read.

I am that girl

I am that girl: In a crazy, media distracted world the important questions often get lost like: What’s your passion? What’s your purpose? Who do you want to be?

Alexis Jones and Emily Greener to address the growing need for community for girls and young Women by helping to build self-esteem and realize their full potential.

Wild and Free

Wild and Free: You don’t have to be everything to everyone. You don’t have to try so hard to button it up and hold it together. We often feel limited by two defining insecurities: “I am too much,” and “I am not enough.”

Because you don’t have to be everything to everyone. You don’t have to try so hard to button it up and hold it together. And you certainly don’t have to quiet the voice that God gave you when he created you to sing. Wild and Free will help you shake off the lies of insecurity in your life. So you can step forward to maximize your God-given influence for his glory and the world’s good.

You are a Badass

You are a badass: You are a badass is their self-help book for people who desperately want to improve their lives but don’t want to get busted doing it.

In this refreshingly entertaining how-to guide to identify and change the self-sabotaging beliefs and behaviors that stop you from getting what you want, create a life you totally love. And create it NOW, Make some damn money already. The kind you’ve never made before.

By the end of You Are a Badass, you’ll understand why you are how you are, how to love what you can’t change, how to change what you don’t love, and how to use The Force to kick some serious ass.

What are some books to read that are not on this list?

Act like a lady, Think like a man

Act like a lady, Think like a man: Whether it’s why women should enforce a “90-Day Probation Period” before they give their men sexual “benefits” or explaining to women why men would rather “fix it” than talk about it, Steve Harvey’s advice is always spot-on and laden with warmth and humor. But behind the laughter is his sincere desire to help women understand men.

With liberal use of his own adventures in love and courtship.  Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man is an honest, compelling, and realistic examination of how men think about love, sex, and what women need to know so that they can set realistic expectations of the men in their life.

Didn’t see that coming

Didn’t see that coming: When it comes to the “hard seasons” of life—the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job—transformation seems impossible when grief and uncertainty dominate your days. Especially when, as Didn’t See that Coming reveals, no one asks to have their future completely rearranged for them.

Did you see those books to read coming?

It’s never too late

It’s never too late: “I’m not retiring; I’m refiring!” Kathie Lee inspires us to pursue what really matters. Because it’s never too late to forgive, to dance the cha-cha, or to make a difference in the world.

Is it time for you to rewrite your story, unearth your hidden passions, and live with a renewed purpose? It’s never too late.

It’s never too late to find some books to read!

Becoming

Becoming: In her memoir, a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling, Michelle Obama invites readers into her world.

With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private. She is telling her full story as she has lived it. In her own words and on her own terms. Warm, wise, and revelatory. Becoming is the deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance. Who has steadily defied expectations—and whose story inspires us to do the same

Daring Greatly

Daring Greatly: Every day we experience the uncertainty, risks, and emotional exposure that define what it means to be vulnerable or to dare greatly. Whether the arena is a new relationship, an important meeting, our creative process, or a difficult family conversation, we must find the courage to walk into vulnerability and engage with our whole hearts.

In Daring Greatly, Dr. Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability. Based on twelve years of research, she argues that vulnerability is not weakness, but rather our clearest path to courage, engagement, and meaningful connection. The book that Dr. Brown’s many fans have been waiting for, Daring Greatly will spark a new spirit of truth—and trust—in our organizations, families, schools, and communities.

Everything is figureoutable

Everything is Figureoutable: While most self-help books offer quick fixes. This book will retrain your brain to think more creatively. Even more positively in the face of setbacks.

If you’re having trouble solving a problem or reaching a dream, the problem isn’t you. It’s that you haven’t yet installed the one belief that changes everything.

Marie’s mom once told her, “Nothing in life is that complicated. You can do whatever you set your mind to if you roll up your sleeves. Everything is figureoutable.”

Whether you want to leave a dead-end job, break an addiction, learn to dance. Maybe heal a relationship, or grow a business, Everything is Figureoutable will show you how.

The year of no-nonsense

The year of no-nonsense: Exhausted and overworked lawyer, triathlete, wife, and mom Meredith Atwood decided one morning that she’d had it. She didn’t take her kids to school, didn’t go to work and she didn’t go to the gym. When she pulled herself out of bed hours later, she found a note from her husband. Next to two empty bottles of wine and a stack of unpaid bills: You need to get your sh*t together.

And that’s what Meredith began to do, starting with identifying the nonsense in her life that was holding her back: saying “yes” too much, keeping frenemies around, and more. In The Year of No Nonsense, Atwood shares what she learned. By tackling struggles with work, family, and body image, and also willpower and time management.

With targeted, practical chapters to help you stop feeling stuck and get on with your life, The Year of No Nonsense is equal parts girlfriend and been-there-done-that. The best part? Like any friend, she helps you get to the other side.

The year of finding new books to read!

The subtle art of not giving a fuck

The subtle art of not giving a f*ck: In this generation-defining self-help guide, a superstar blogger cuts through the crap to show us how to stop trying to be “positive” all the time so that we can truly become better, happier people.

For decades, we’ve been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. “F**k positivity,” Mark Manson says. “Let’s be honest, shit is f**ked and we have to live with it.” In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn’t sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is—a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is his antidote to the coddling, let’s-all-feel-good mindset that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

There are only so many things we can give a f**k about so we need to figure out which ones really matter.

Atomic Habits

Atomic Habits: If you’re having trouble changing your habits, the problem isn’t you. The problem is your system. Bad habits repeat themselves again and again not because you don’t want to change, but because you have the wrong system for change. You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems. Here, you’ll get a proven system that can take you to new heights.

Atomic Habits will reshape the way you think about progress and success, and give you the tools and strategies you need to transform your habits–whether you are a team looking to win a championship, an organization hoping to redefine an industry, or simply an individual who wishes to quit smoking, lose weight, reduce stress, or achieve any other goal.

Get your shit together

Get your sh*it together: The no-f*cks-given, no-holds-barred guide to living your best life.

Ever find yourself stuck at the office or even just glued to the couch — when you really want to get out (for once), get to the gym (at last), and get started on that “someday” project you’re always putting off? It’s time to get your sh*t together.

In The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck, “anti-guru” Sarah Knight introduced readers to the joys of mental decluttering. This book takes you one step further — organizing the f*cks you want and need to give, and cutting through the bullsh*t cycle of self-sabotage to get happy and stay that way. You’ll discover:

The Power of Negative Thinking Three simple tools for getting your sh*t together How to spend less and save more Ways to manage anxiety, avoid avoidance, and conquer your fear of failure And tons of other awesome sh*t!

How to stop feeling like shit

How to Stop Feeling Like Sh*t is a straight-shooting approach to self-improvement for women, one that offers no-crap truth-telling about the most common self-destructive behaviors women tend to engage in.

From listening to the imposter complex and bitchy inner critic to catastrophizing and people-pleasing, Andrea Owen – a nationally sought-after life coach – crystallizes what’s behind these invisible, undermining habits. With each chapter, she kicks women’s gears out of autopilot and empowers them to create happier, more fulfilling lives.

Powerfully on-the-mark, the chapters are short and digestible, nicely bypassing weighty examinations in favor of punch-points of awareness.

Girl Code

Girl Code: Something dynamic happens when women genuinely show up for each other. When we lose the facades, cut the bullsh*t, and truly have each other’s backs. As soon as we stop pretending everything is perfect, and show the messy, beautiful parts of ourselves and our work—which all look awfully similar. Finally, we talk about our fears, our missteps, and our breakdowns. And most importantly, when we share our celebrations, our breakthroughs, and our solutions.

I’m convinced that there’s no reason to hoard information, connections, or insight. Wisdom is meant to be shared, so let’s start sharing what we’ve learned to make each other better. Let’s start building each other up. Let’s live up to our potential and start ruling the world.

Girl Code is a roadmap for female entrepreneurs, professional women, “side hustlers” (those with a day job plus a part-time small business), and anyone in between. This book won’t teach you how to build a multimillion-dollar company. It won’t teach you about systems or finance. But it will teach you how to build confidence in yourself, reconnect with your “why,” eradicate jealousy, and ultimately learn the power of connection. Because at the end of the day, that’s what life and business are all about.

Did you find any books to read?

I know I am stoked to read all of these books this year. These books have me genuinely excited to get to know myself more and create an amazing life for myself and my family.

We are always working on ourselves. It’s a never-ending cycle. We work through some things and get to know ourselves more then BAM! You find a whole new set of things you find you need to work through. We are like onions. We have a bunch of layers and sometimes those layers make you wanna cry.

Finding books to read can help you work through some things by bringing forth some emotions and thoughts you didn’t know you had. Having books to read can give you an outlet to not think for a while and to focus on what someone else is saying. And then later applying it to your life to make a difference.

Find books to read that really speak to you. That will inspire you to do and be great for yourself. Not everything in the books you are reading is going to apply to you and your life, but with the knowledge you know have with reading… you may just be able to recommend the book to someone you know it would benefit.

Now you just inspired someone to start their own personal growth journey.

Until Next time, Have a great day!
