Brigit’s afternoon tea bus tour: Is it worth it?*

*I wasn’t gifted this in exchange for blog or Instagram content. However, I was given a complimentary Brigit’s Afternoon Tea Bus Tour in exchange for posing in their promotional content. It’s time for a new “Is it worth it?” post Looking for something super touristy to do in London? Want a day out that proves a little different? Why not combine two things that England is notorious for: afternoon tea and big red buses, and take part in the Brigit’s Afternoon Tea Bus Tour? I’d always seen them around, I’d always been curious, and then I had the chance to try one myself. So, I thought I may as well write about them because I’m enjoying letting you know whether different gimmicks are worth it. What is Brigit’s Afternoon Tea Bus Tour? Previous Next Brigit’s Bakery is a bakery located in Covent Garden in London. Though they operate as a normal bakery with cakes and sandwiches, they also serve afternoon tea. However, they are most famously known for their afternoon tea bus tour, where from £45 per person you can enjoy afternoon tea on a vintage double-decker bus, whilst you tour the sites of London.  The tour itself takes 2 hours and picks you up from a central, easy to find location What do you get? Each month, the tours have different themes, and therefore the food differs per season. However, I’ve detailed below a rough outline of what we received. Previous Next Food 4 cakes (Ours ranged from Victoria Sponge, a chocolate cupcake, a mini lemon one and a raspberry one) 4 sandwich options (vegan, gluten-free, vegetarian and halal options are available) A savoury muffin and cream cheese A fresh (super warm) scone with clotted cream and jam Drinks Prosecco is served in a plastic prosecco glass Hot drinks are served in a Brigit’s Afternoon Tea Bus Tour keep cup, which you get to keep after the bus tour. Hot drink choices include hot chocolate, various teas and coffee. My food highlights Firstly, it must be noted that I absolutely cannot fault the quantity of food that you get. There was more than enough to go around, I ate myself silly, and I was still able to box some up and take it away with me at the end.  My favourite item was 100% the savoury muffin with cream cheese. It was delicious, filling and incredibly different to other things you tend to find in an afternoon tea. The sandwiches covered a wide variety from egg cress to mini BLT’s, and though small, there were enough of them to fill you up. Also, I love that they brought the scones around later so they were fresh and warm. The only thing I struggled with was drinking the prosecco while the bus was moving. The hot drinks were absolutely fine as they came in a keep cup, but I did spill the prosecco from time to time. Is the Brigit’s Afternoon Tea Bus Tour worth it? Previous Next The prices for the Brigit’s Afternoon Tea Bus Tour start from £45, but most of the ones I found on their website seemed to start at £54 for an adult. Though this is definitely a pricier purchase, I do have to say that you get what you pay for.  There are definitely cheaper afternoon teas. However, when you consider both the quality of the food and the fact that you get both an afternoon tea and a bus tour, the price makes more sense. It was honestly such an enjoyable experience with some high-quality food. Therefore, if you are looking to treat yourself, or really embrace the tourist experience, I would strongly recommend doing a Brigit’s Afternoon Tea Bus Tour.
