Try these 5 summer crafts for bored-at-home kids

Tags: kid paint craft

Summertime is the best time of the year. Children are out of school, ready to enjoy every bit of it. But it can be a bit hectic for the parents if they are not prepared. There will be times where you will hear your children whining about how they are getting bored. We have listed down some summer crafts so that those little minds and hands are kept busy. These crafts are made with things around the house, so they are budget-friendly too.

1. CD craft

Do you have CDs or DVDs lying around your house? Please do not throw them away. They can be of use to your children. Take a CD and some permanent markers, craft papers, and tape and help your children make different animals out of it. Paste them on your fence. Believe us, your children will love making it.

2. Soda bottle planters

Everyone has soda bottles in their home. Use them to create these cute little planters that are (almost) free. Help your kids cut the bottles into half, Paint and decorate them as they wish, put some sand and seeds in it, and voila, your plant is ready. You can place it with your other plants in your garden.

3. Pencil holders

If you are going to start crafting with your kids, they will need something to organize their craft supplies into. If you have an empty can in your house, give it to your children to decorate and paint it using chart paper, paints, and paintbrushes. It will look good on their desk.

4. Painted Planters

You probably have plants in your house, right? Help your children by painting them. Please provide them with paints and paintbrushes and let them show their inner creativity. This will be a great way to bust their boredom, and your garden will look a lot different.

5. Windchimes for kids

Get a wooden stick and let your kids get creative as they want. Paint the stick, help your kids with adding hooks to the stick and add beads to the wire as many as they want. Make a hanger out of jute, and you are done. It’s an effortless and fun craft to make your kids busy, and they’ll get excited when they see it hanging around the garden.

6. Flower bookmarks

Start by cutting out felt flowers. You should provide your kids with a supply of felt flowers and buttons. Use glue to layer the felt flowers and add a colorful button in the center. Glue to flower to a stick, and your at-home bookmark is done.

7. Painted rocks.

Provide your kids with some rocks and let them paint them. Acrylic paints would be suitable for them because any other paint will not have the same consistency. Give them some paintbrushes and let them paint whatever they want. It would be a nice, calm activity for your kids.

8. Tie-dye towel

The tie-dye is so easy that it can quickly get the kids involved. Get a towel that you don’t use anymore and make the pattern of your kids’ name with the help of duct tape. To make it easy for the kids, mix the tie-dye spray in a spray bottle and just spray it all over your towel. To give a tie-dye effect, have more than one color spray. After air-drying it, peel of the duct tape, and you are done.

We hope these recommendations help your kids have a little fun. We hope you enjoy your time with your kids as well and just take a breath from all “Mom! I’m bored” whining.
