January Musings – The Mandalorian, Girl Scouts, and Peanut Butter

Jack’s Birthday

For Jack’s birthday we had a Mandalorian themed birthday party. Jack dressed up like the Mandalorian and Lorelai dressed up like baby Yoda.

The cuteness was insanity.

The day included activities like rescuing baby Yoda from storm troopers, decorating macarons, and chasing down another Mandalorian. Jack had such a great time, and Eric and I got a work out with all the running around.

I made my first macarons. They came out terrible, but I was proud of myself for trying it out. I can check that one off my bucket list!

Girl Scout Cookies

Lorelai started selling Girls Scout cookies! That’s right, we are officially a Girl Scout cookie household!

If you are interested in buying cookies, you can use her link below. Did you know that you can get Girl Scout cookies delivered to your house from anywhere in the country? 🤯

Here’s the link to buy cookies: Lorelai’s Girls Scout cookie link

Frozen Playground

We met some friends that we hadn’t seen in a long time, at the park. It was nice to have a face to face conversation and the kids got to run around, but it ended up being way too cold and we had to pack it in after an hour.

Lorelai warmed up in the car with the heat jacked up, while wrapped in a taco blanket.

Magical Sunsets

January was insane with colorful sunsets. I saw this beautiful one on a walk with my mom.

Birds Aren’t Real

I saw this website linked from a blog post by Laurie at Meditations in Motion. When you have a minute and feel like a good laugh, check out this website: Birds Aren’t Real.

I ordered a sticker from the website and put it on my laptop. It makes me smile.

I Got Pinned

I became an official Girl Scout leader in January. The Connecticut leaders showed up and gave me an official pin. They pinned me ♥️

In that moment, I became a part of a 100+ year old tradition. So amazing.

Scout Hikes

The girls went on their first hike together. The adorableness 🥺

I covered the girl’s faces in the photo because I didn’t ask for permission to post. They got some sweet 80’s hair from PicMonkey.

The first hike went really well. We lucked out with the weather, and girls were psyched to meet face to face and get their first set of badges.

The second hike was a night hike and the temperature was super low so only one girl showed up, aside from Lorelai.

These two couldn’t care less about the cold. By the end of the hike they were sliding around on the ice, having the time of their lives.

Melatonin

Jack started taking melatonin in January. Eric and I had been talking about it for a while and he was really against it. Jack has always had a hard time falling asleep, and recently it had been getting worse.

He’s been on melatonin for a bout a month now and it has changed everything. He’s getting more sleep now than he’s gotten in a long time and he’s falling asleep quick than ever.

New Beginnings

Remember when I wrote about stores closing in New Milford, and how it was breaking my heart? Well, in January I was in town getting breakfast at the last remaining spot and saw that a store opened in a storefront that had been empty from since we lived there.

It is a bulk food store, and I got freshly ground Peanut Butter that tastes like it was made with those crunchy candy-coated peanuts. OMG, so good.

The Pantry!

I already wrote about the pantry redesign, and after all of the amazing things that happened in January this was my favorite. OK, second favorite, getting pinned by the Girl Scouts was my favorite.

It was a really great month and a great way to start the new year. It’s hard not to feel like the days are merging together as we get closer to a year of staying home. Taking stock at the end of each month has been a really important way for me to remind myself that we are still living a very wonderful life full of happy and exciting moments.

And Freshly Ground Peanut butter.

Have a great weekend!
♥️ Ani
