You know you’re a child of the 80’s when you read the title of this blog post and hear this song:
Oh the 80’s. Did we just sing about everything back then? What a magical time to be alive.
I decided a few months ago that I would grow out my Gray Hair.
I know gray hair is COVID-chic but I didn’t grow mine out because of COVID, I haven’t dyed my hair in a salon in over a year, and for many many years before that. But seriously, it was time. I’m a year away from 40 and I’ve had gray hairs accumulating since I turned 30.
It was a slow burn, just a few grays here and there. Then, after baby #2 and working for one of the biggest companies on the planet, I noticed that the production of gray hairs was pushed into overdrive.
When I first moved back to Connecticut I went to a salon to get my nails done. I get the urge every few years. And as I was talking to the woman doing my nails she told me that she was the owner. She eyeballed my hair and said that she hadn’t had much practice doing reds.
I don’t know how she asked it, but she offered to dye my hair for free. She needed the practice and I needed the dye.
The last time I got my hair dyed at a salon before that was in New Jersey. I got a cut, color, and blow out. It took two women over an hour to dry my hair. The results were stunning. I legit cried when I saw myself in the mirror.
So, here I am again, back on the dye train. I am not ready to rock the gray hair. Even though it did look pretty cool sometimes, overall I just wasn’t feeling happy with it. I was starting to feel old and tired.
This time around I used Madison Reed, which is best hair color I’ve ever used. It creates amazing highlights and lowlights. Just joking, I don’t know what lowlights are. But it does make some really nice highlights.
If you want to try Madison Reed you can use my affiliate link and get $15 off of your first order: Madison Reed Coupon.
I cannot tell you how good I feel today, completely refreshed and less haggard. Not to be confused with Hagrid because apparently J.K. Rowling is a real POS these days. Can we reclaim Harry Potter somehow?
