April 2021, Tarot Spread

I don’t know about you, but my month started with a bang. Well, more specifically a phone call, and as the day progressed it only got busier and left me feeling like I was trying to catch up with an already moving train. As a result, I decide to do a tarot spread about being present this month.

When you consider the changes happening in the season as spring flower begin to bloom, the changes in our own lives, our country, and the Earth it’s easy to see how things are already moving, and the month has only just begun.

So, as I sat down to do this spread, I choose

the Turning Point spread to represent the changes we are experiencing at this time.

Once I had all my materials I sad down, asked my question, shuffled, cut the cards, and laid out our spread.

The Turning Point Spread:

Question: Asking for guidance with being present as this new month brings movement and the potential for growth.

Shadow Card: The Magician

The shadow card represents the overall energy for the spread, in this case the overall energy we can expect from this coming month. What the Magician teaches us is how to make our dreams a reality, to manifest these ideas

from our mind or even these intuitive ideas that we have from Spirit and bring them down to Earth into these real solid objects.

To aid us in this endeavor we see the tools at the Magician’s disposal placed on his table the Wand, Cup, Sword and the Pentacle. We also learned from his robe that to bring our ideas to fruition we need both, passion displayed by his red robe, and purity of intention, displayed by the white clothing that he wears.

#1 Surrounding Circumstances: Seven of Pentacles

We enter into this month after having experienced a pause in our endeavors as well as pause in the seasons. The 7 of Pentacles teaches us the importance of honoring rest and recuperation, as well as reassessing a situation.

These last few months we have been asked by the universe to slow down honoring that colder season, as well as to reflect and reminisce about past endeavors, relationships, plans, and ideas.

While taking a rest can seem counterproductive, it affords us the opportunity to refill our gas tank with energy, creativity, and passion. All of these are going to help not only sustain us, but push us and drive us moving forward, when the rest comes to an end and it’s time to work again.

#2 What We Need to Know About the Present: Three of Wands

With the 3 of Wands we learn that at this time we are being asked to not only pause but to more specifically look at what we have already accomplished. The 3 of Wands follows the 2 of Wands, which teaches us that in
this moment in time we have entered into a new cycle. (The Suit of Wands being fire energy and the first suit in the Minor Arcana.) When the 3 of Wands enters the picture it’s displaying the results of our initial efforts, while the 2 of Wands was the planning stage. The 3 of Wands is going to tell us what’s come of those plans. This is when we discover what our hard work or our avoidance has manifested in our lives. On that note, the 3 of Wands being a number three energy is about creativity and we can see a correlation between this card and our shadow card the Magician. With a focus on creation and manifestation this month, the 3 of Wands lets us know that presently there is creative energy around us. This is also an opportunity to not only take stock of what we’ve already achieved as seen in the 7 of Pentacles, but that there is still more creative energy available to us.

#3 Belief Patterns That Have Led to This Point: The Sun

With the Sun I automatically experience joy, between seeing the rays of the sun on the card, the child at play, as well as the sunflowers I feel a warmth and an exuberance. At the start of this New

Years, we’ve experienced a great many changes and in the process we each get to decide how we’re going to approach this New Year, how we are going to perceive it, and what we’re going to do. The Sun not only teaches us to enjoy and have fun but its position within the Major Arcana storyline plays a critical role behind the meaning of this card.

Following the Moon and proceeding the Judgment card, the Sun teaches us that there is time and an importance to childlike wonder and glee. That even between these two heavier topic cards, the Sun has this ability to shine and enjoy life. Due to the position of this card, it teaches us that we have adopted this child link perspective and Belief system. Which we’re bringing with us to this present moment, that not only supports us in our joy but helps cushion us from some of the harsher truths and experiences that we’ve been having this past year.

#4 Bridge Event That Leads to the Turning Point: Page of Wands

The Page of Wands in this reading acts as a Messenger. His presence in this position lets us know that the changes we wish to see are going to be facilitated through communication. This communication can be between a person,

a letter, a book. But at its heart, the changes that we’re seeing come from new beliefs and new wisdom or even ancient lost wisdom that’s being brought to our attention once more.

This card is very much in keeping with the spiritual understanding of Earth’s transformation at this time. As the Earth goes through a process commonly known as ascension how we operate and live our lives is changing.

This change is being facilitated and brought to our attention by learning new knowledge, skills, tools, and ideas that will help us to approach life from a different perspective or in a kinder more hear- centered manner.

So, this month be sure to look out for any new information that catches your eye. While the Page of Wands is sending out wisdom, we must still open our arms and listen to what the messenger has to share.

#5 Turning Point: Five of Swords

The 5 of Swords indicates the triggering element that will facilitate our turning point. Since these readings are designed to take a look at the world as a whole or even at humanity in general, this reading indicates

a change in a long-held Core Belief by people.

Change can be manifested (as seen with the Magician) in a number of ways. With a Wand, Cup, Sword, and Pentacle in hand, we have a number of ways to facilitating change, healing, and growth. And at the end of the day, all healthy paths are needed, and when we consider how we can help change the world by selecting a path that resonates with us we not only enjoy a harmonious life but are also able to help others.

The 5 of Swords has two distinct meanings, with two very different connotations. On the one hand, this card can be seen as the greedy, envious elements of human life, seen through the green of the Fool’s tunic and the possession of all the swords.

But since the surrounding cards of this spread point towards healthy and healing attributes, it means that the 5 of Swords in this case has to do with self-care.
Since our lives have been dependent on others for generations, to not only survive the winter but the wild animals, we developed a set of core beliefs that support ideas and lifestyles of community, sometimes to the detriment of our individual selves. To deter from this individualism, shame and guilt have been used to manipulate and control.

The presence of the 5 of Swords teaches us that times are changing, and that our core beliefs are changing too. While honoring each other and the community we share will always be an important element of life, we are now beginning to honor and self-advocate for the individual.

While new wisdom and lost wisdom will bring this idea to people, the actual turning point that we will experience as a human community is when we acknowledge that we are each special. That our well being matters.

As seen in this card, when others choose to violate this truth, we will learn the tools necessary to create boundaries and advocate for ourselves. Until the bullies and greedy individuals won’t want to mess with us and will walk away from what they thought was theirs but what was in fact ours.

My final note about this card has to do with the craggy gray clouds in the background. These clouds indicate that the process of changing this core belief will come with some rocky moments but overall, it doesn’t have to be a dark and challenging time.

If you look all the way back to the Sun, the Sun is teaching us to have joy even when surrounded by the Moon and Judgment. That if we continue to bring that perspective and belief system with us as we move forward in changing this core belief about the importance of the individual, we have the ability to shine a light through the darkness others would force upon us.

#6 Unexpected Benefits of the Turning Point: Three of Swords

When I first saw the 3 of Swords, my thought was “How can this be an unexpected benefit?” For a card that is not noted for its joy and health, I needed to look deeper to find just what the meaning was.
By taking a look at the heart in this image, you can learn a lot about the nature of the injury. When the heart appears orange/red it indicates an old wound. While a bright red color indicates a fresh wound. But this time the heart was a strong red, which told me that this card was talking about a prolonged state of damage or more specifically chronic pain (emotional/mental/physical/spiritual).
To gain even more clarity I pulled six more clarifying cards: The Hermit, Knight of Cups, 5 of Cups, 6 of Wands, The Lovers, and 2 of Cups.

The 3 of Swords, plus the six clarifying cards, paired with the position in the spread told a healing story. As an unexpected benefit, by changing our core belief to reflect the importance of a person, how we see life and live will change.

As a result, the chronic pain that many have accepted will discover healing. The Hermit indicates internal reflection (taking time for the self), while the Knight of Cups and 5 of Cups indicates an emotion-based journey of release. Followed by success (6 of Wands), healing (The Lovers), and a stronger healthier sense of community (2 of Cups).

While it is a truth I actively utilize in my life, for others- this change in core belief will teach them a new truth. That pain does not have to be chronic.

#7 What You Learn from This Turning Point: Six of Pentacles

The 6 of Pentacles like all the cards in tarot has many layers to its meaning. As a result, we discover just how much we can learn if we embrace this opportunity.

When we take a look at our Fools, we are taught about the cycle of all things. Just as there is a cycle to the seasons, there is a cycle to human beings as well. There are times when we are the ones in need, and we rely upon the community that we share to receive aid and support.

As the wheel of fortune spins, we will also find moments in our life where we are set emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually, and financially. When that time comes, it then becomes our turn to give. But as we see in the wealthy Fool’s hands, while one hand gives, the other hand holds a balance.

By adding in this tool of balance, we can still aid those around us but without giving up our new core belief. Through the act of weighing the situation we are able to remain healthy and happy (honoring the self) while giving to others in need (the community we share).

The last layer to this card is the Fool who kneels at the side of the wealthy Fool and his scale. While this sight can trigger harsh emotions within us, that is the old core belief within making itself known. Because the scale is teaching us that we only have so much to give, and the well-being of human life does not sit on our shoulders alone.

You are not able to help everyone. Not everyone wants help. Instead through balance you not only help others but by honoring yourself you continue to honor human life.

#8 What Evolves from This Turning Point: Seven of Cups

When I first look at this card, all I see is the many cups before our Fool. Just as this is my first response, it also is the first element of this card’s meaning today.

When we consider what will come of this change in core belief,
