We were trying to figure out who the mayor would flip before the veto Override Vote on Thursday, September 3rd. We never would have guessed Christine Long.

It appears that Long is scheduled to have a one-on-one with her boss at 5PM on Tuesday September 1st. On Thursday September 3rd, Long and other members of City Council will be voting on whether to override the mayor’s veto of a measure Long herself “drafted”. See the issue.

Christine Long’s apartment moratorium was approved by the city council, vetoed by the mayor, and now an override of the veto is up for vote. Christine Long is meeting with the Mayor two days before that override vote in an effort by the Mayor to secure a No vote.

Only 4 votes against the override will end the apartment moratorium becoming a reality. George King is expected to vote against the override as he was the lone vote against the moratorium in the first place. What will Long, Cesar Stewart Morales, Tracey Bryant, and Robert Case do. These are the wild cards and the mayor only needs to swing three of them.
