1) Groovy Guy: Robin Leach
The host of the syndicated TV series, Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous (1984-95), and its spinoff series, Runaway with the Rich and Famous (1986-94), died Friday at age 76. Below you can watch him in a 1985 interview and in two appearances on Late Night with David Letterman on September 14, 1990, and January 8, 1992.





2) Groovy Guy: Craig Zadan
The Emmy and Tony-nominated producer, who died Monday at age 69, produced the films, Footloose (1984) and Sing (1989). He then formed a partnership with Neil Meron and produced many other feature films and TV movies including If Looks Could Kill (1991), Gypsy (1983) with Bette Midler, Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story (1995), My Fellow Americans (1996), Cinderella (1997), Double Platinum (1999), Annie (1999), The Beach Boys: An American Family (2000), Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows (2001), Martin and Lewis (2002), Chicago (2002), The Music Man (2003), Lucy (2003), The Reagans (2003), Wedding Wars (2006), Hairspray (2007), The Bucket List (2007), A Raisin in the Sun (2008), Footloose (2011), Steel Magnolias (2012) and Flint (2017). He and Meron also produced the live TV musicals of The Sound of Music (2013), Peter Pan (2014), The Wiz (2015), Hairspray (2016) and Jesus Christ Superstar (2018) as well as the Academy Awards telecast from 2013 to 2015. Zadan's Broadway credits as a producer include Sondheim: A Musical Tribute (1973), Up in One (1979) with Peter Allen, Promises, Promises (2010) and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (2011). He also wrote the 1974 book, Sondheim & Co., about Stephen Sondheim's musicals. And Zadan and Meron produced four television series - ABC's Veritas: The Quest (2003), ABC's It's All Relative (2003-04), Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva (2009-14) and NBC's Smash (2012-13). 3) Groovy Guy: John McCain
The United States Senator from Arizona (1987-2018), who died earlier today at age 81, was a Vietnam War hero and the 2008 Republican nominee for President of the United States. Sadly, he tarnished his legacy by choosing Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate and helping to make her a household name. However, I do thank him for his decisive vote against the GOP's attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act in 2017. Below you can watch McCain on Late Show with David Letterman on October 16, 2008, and Saturday Night Live on November 1, 2008 (with Tina Fey as Palin).
