Remembering David Cassidy 1950 - 2017

Actor and singer David Cassidy, who died Tuesday at age 67, was best known for his role as Keith Partridge in the 1970-74 ABC sitcom, The Partridge Family, which led to his becoming a teen idol. Other television credits include the 1978-79 NBC police drama, David Cassidy: Man Undercover, and the 2009 ABC Family comedy series, Ruby & The Rockits (which was created by his half-brother Shaun Cassidy). He received a 1978 Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor for a Single Appearance in a Drama or Comedy Series for an episode of Police Story.

Cassidy also appeared in a few feature films, including Instant Karma (1990), The Spirit of '76 (1990) and Popstar (2005), and in three Broadway musicals - The Fig Leaves Are Falling (1969), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (1983) and Blood Brothers (1993-94) with Shaun and Petula Clark. In 1996, he replaced Michael Crawford in the Las Vegas production of EFX at the MGM Grand Hotel, and he wrote and appeared in the 2000-01 Las Vegas show, At the Copa, with Sheena Easton.

As the lead singer of The Partridge Family, Cassidy had a #1 hit record in 1970 with "I Think I Love You". And the group received a 1971 Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. He also had a successful career as a solo recording artist.

Cassidy is survived by his son, musician Beau Cassidy; his daughter, actress Katie Cassidy; his stepmother, actress Shirley Jones (who was married to his late father, actor Jack Cassidy); and his three half-brothers - Shaun, Patrick Cassidy and Ryan Cassidy. Below I've selected some videos to celebrate his life and career.
