10 Groovy Things to Do in November starring Nick Adams and Ethan Slater (as SpongeBob SquarePants)


Since there are so many groovy plays, musicals, concerts and events, this is my monthly list to help promote a few of them (click on a title for more information or to purchase tickets):

1) Meteor Shower
Broadway previews begin November 1. Opens November 29 at the Booth Theatre.
Amy Schumer, Keegan-Michael Key, Laura Benanti and Jeremy Shamos star in Steve Martin's "cosmic comedy", in which two couples find themselves in a marital free-fall - and in a meteor shower - during a hot night in Ojai, California.



2) Significant Other
November 3 - December 9 at Theater Wit in Chicago
About Face Theatre and Theater Wit present the Midwest premiere of Joshua Harmon's romantic comedy about a single gay man looking for Mr. Right in New York City. The cast includes Benjamin Sprunger, Alex Weisman, Ninos Baba, Amanda Drinkall, Tiffany Oglesby, Cassidy Slaughter-Mason and Ann Whitney.


3) Bryan Cranston in Network
West End previews begin November 4. Opens November 13 at the National Theatre.
Bryan Cranston stars as news anchorman Howard Beale in Lee Hall and director Ivo Van Hove's new stage adaptation of the 1976 Academy Award-winning film. The cast also includes Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery as Diana Christenson and Douglas Henshall as Max Schumaker.



4) Simply Sensational featuring Nick Adams
November 6 at Chicago's Pride Arts Center
Pride Films and Plays’ annual fall benefit will feature Broadway musical theater star Nick Adams, who originated the role of Adam/Felicia in Priscilla: Queen of the Desert. He has also had major roles in the hit revivals of A Chorus Line, Guys and Dolls, Chicago and La Cage aux Folles.



5) SpongeBob SquarePants, The Broadway Musical
Broadway previews begin November 6. Opens December 4 at the Palace Theatre.
Brilliantly reimagining the beloved Nickelodeon cartoon series, Broadway’s best creative minds - including director Tina Landau - bring SpongeBob and all of Bikini Bottom to life with humor, heart and pure theatricality. The cast includes Ethan Slater (as SpongeBob), Gavin Lee, Lilli Cooper, Brian Ray Norris, Danny Skinner and Wesley Taylor.



6) SUMMER: The Donna Summer Musical
November 7 - December 17 at the La Jolla Playhouse in La Jolla, CA
Directed by Des McAnuff (Jersey Boys, The Who's Tommy), this vibrant, world-premiere musical charts the incomparable life of Donna Summer — the undisputed Queen of Disco - and features a score with more than 20 of her classic hits.


7) Uma Thurman in The Parisian Woman
Broadway previews begin November 7. Opens November 30 at the Hudson Theatre.
Academy Award nominee Uma Thurman stars in this new play written by Academy Award and Emmy Award nominee Beau Willimon (House of Cards) and directed by Tony Award winner Pam MacKinnon (Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?). Thurman plays a D.C. socialite coming to terms with politics, her past, her marriage and an uncertain future. The cast also includes Josh Lucas, Marton Csokas, Tony Award nominee Phillipa Soo and Tony Award winner Blair Brown.



8) Once on This Island
Broadway previews begin November 9. Opens December 3 at Circle in the Square Theatre.
Tony Award winner Lea Salonga returns to Broadway in this revival of the 1990 musical about a peasant girl's star-crossed romance with a young man from the wealthy side of her Caribbean island. The cast also includes Alex Newell (Glee) and Merle Dandridge (Greenleaf).



9) Rick Skye as Liza Minnelli in Bazaaz! A Sequined Variety
November 25 at NYC's Don't Tell Mama
2017 MAC Award winner Rick Skye stars in and hosts (as Liza) this monthly variety show, which features his special guest Steven Brinberg as "Simply Barbra", The Kit Kat Boyz and the songs and snappy patter of the legendary Sydney Myer.



10) Alice Ripley & Emily Skinner: Unattached!
November 28 - December 6 at NYC's Feinstein’s/54 Below
Back by popular demand after several sold-out engagements, Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner are ready to tear the paint off the walls of Feinstein’s/54 Below with both new material and some of their old favorites.
