Ohana Dinner Review

Ohana located at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a hard to reserve family style dinner serving Polynesian food. The ambiance is one of a kind. You won’t find another place like this in all of Walt Disney World.

But does the Polynesian look and feel make ‘Ohana Dinner a Disney Must Do? Is the dinner the best one in WDW? Do you get to meet Stitch?

Disney is full of unique dining options. ‘Ohana is no different and like anything in life it depends on the person and family. Below you will find our review of ‘Ohana on our most recent visit in early August 2023.

Food

The food at Ohana for Dinner is served family style. This means the server will bring huge plates to your table for everyone to share. If you run out of anything you can always ask for more.

For the four of us that were here (two adults and two 12 year old girls), it was more than enough food. Although, we probably could have used more noodles.

The first two items to come to the table are the signature Ohana bread with honey butter and salad. The bread was pretty good with the butter on it. You may want to have more than one piece but hold off. There is a ton of food coming soon. The dressing for the salad is amazing. It was citrus based dressing and will make you want to eat too much salad.

Not long after the bread and salad you will get a huge bowl that is filled with noodles, roasted broccoli, Pork Dumplings, and honey coriander chicken wings.

The dumplings were amazing. They are tossed in a garlic ginger sauce and I couldn’t get enough. The honey coriander chicken wings were also amazing. The wings were cooked perfectly. Nice and crispy on the outside. Hot and juicy on the inside.

Now everyone talks about how great the Ohana Noodles are. I didn’t think they were out of this world. I’m not saying they were bad. They were good but I just put them on the same level as my local Chinese lo mein noodles.

Right after that the meat comes. You will get wood grilled teriyaki beef, spicy shrimp, and chicken. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and whatever seasoning they used was delicious. We couldn’t get enough of it and neither one of us thought it was spicy. Trust me if it was spicy my mother wouldn’t have had as many as she did.

The beef was very tender. I wasn’t expecting it to be so I was very pleased with that. It was also cooked perfectly and very flavorful. I wouldn’t mind ordering the beef by itself at a different location.

The grilled chicken with chimichurri sauce was okay. None of us were huge fans of the chicken. Not sure what it was but I would guess the sauce. The chicken was nice and juicy. It wasn’t dried out or anything like that. Maybe it was just the chicken wings were so good that we expected the main chicken dish to be better.

Dinner finishes up with the famous Ohana Bread Pudding with ice cream and caramel sauce. Now I am a sucker for bread pudding, ice cream, and caramel sauce. Having all three of these together was amazing. The warm bread pudding with the melty ice cream and mouthwatering caramel sauce couldn’t be beat. Probably one of the best desserts at a restaurant in Walt Disney World.

Feelings

Was ‘Ohana worth all the hype? Honestly, I am not sure. The food overall was very good. The atmosphere was amazing. The price was steep.

At almost $60 per adult, you could find so many other places to eat that are just as good or better. Many of them would be cheaper too. The all you care to enjoy, family style dining helps justify the price a little. I just don’t think it covers it all the way if you get what I mean.

I would visit Ohana again in the future for Dinner. I just don’t feel that this meal is one that you must try to do ever visit. If you are only visiting WDW once and looking for the best places to eat then book Ohana. However, if you plan on visiting every year or every couple of years, you can skip this one and do it another time. Maybe they will start serving the meat on skewers like that did before the pandemic.
