Five DON’Ts of Photography

If you are looking for photography tips the internet and Kozmophotos.com has tons of them. But what about the things that you SHOULDN’T do in photography? You won’t come across many lists that will tell you what NOT to do.

Well that’s going to stop today. Today we put together a list of things that you shouldn’t do in photography. It doesn’t matter if it is your first time picking up a Camera or your millionth time.

These five tips should be something to always follow. It doesn’t matter if you are shooting a landscape. Going and doing a portrait session or just casually walking around the city. You will want to follow these Five tips every single time you go out with your camera. These even apply if you are using your phone to shoot photos.

THE DON’TS

Touch your lens

This should be pretty straightforward. Never touch your lens. Smudge marks or fingerprints never make a photo turn out great.

Before you start shooting for the day make sure to clean off your lens. Make sure you have a simple cleaning kit to wipe off any dust or dirt from your lens. Just make sure you don’t scratch it. A scratch in the lens will be far worse than any smudge or fingerprint.

Shoot in Auto

You didn’t go out and buy yourself a nice mirrorless or DSLR camera just to shoot in auto did you? Once you really learn how to shoot in manual mode your photos will come out better than anything the auto setting can produce.

You should even use the pro mode on your phones camera. It usually let’s you adjust the ISO and Shutter Speed.

Forget the extras

You should always remember to bring the “extras”. Like extra batteries or memory cards. Camera batteries are funny; they like to die at the worst possible moment.

Make sure you can still catch that epic sunset with spare batteries packed in your camera bag. It wouldn’t even hurt to bring a power bank with you to charge your batteries on the go.

Skip the Edit

Sometimes a photo comes out looking so amazing that you want to post it to your social media accounts right away. Well DON’T do that without doing a quick edit first.

You should always edit each photo you take. Even just a simple adjustment can make a huge difference in your photo.

Forget to Research

One thing I see many photographers forget to do and this is especially true with “phone” photographers is to do their research. Always do a little research on the area you will be visiting. This could even be in your home town.

Sure you might know around what time the sun sets this time of year but do you know the actual time? Bet you don’t without looking it up. See simple, quick research to help aid your photography.

Remember to check the sunset times, moon rise times, weather, festivals that might be happening. There’s so many things you could research about the given location you are planning on visiting that it just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to go in blind.

As you can see these five DON’Ts are really simple and everyone should have been following them already. If not, it’s not too late to start. Plus they are simple to start right now. You won’t even need to go out and spend any money.
