10 things you might not know about Universal Studios Orlando

Thousands of people from all around the world visit Orlando, Florida every year. However, on a fraction visit Universal Studios Orlando. If you are a part of the crew that skips Universal, maybe after you read these 10 interesting facts, you will be planning a visit soon.

With some of the best themed areas in Orlando, amazing rides, and delicious food. You will be questioning why you rarely or even never go. Universal Studios has come a long way since it opened.

Now get ready to find out 10 things you didn’t know about Universal Studios Orlando. From E.T. to Diagon Alley let’s get to it.

Flaming Moe

Were you a fan of the Simpson back in the 90’s? Do you remember the Flaming Moe? You remember the drink at Moe’s that he would light on fire.

Well you can order one at Universal Studios in the Simpson area of the park. Just one thing. This one isn’t on fire but it does smoke.

Dry ice helps create this effect and is placed in a special compartment.

Secret songs

Hollywood RIP Ride Rocket is an adrenaline pumping ride. Most people know that you can select between a bunch of different songs from different genres. But did you know that there is a secret menu to choose from?

Once on the ride hold down the logo for about 10 seconds. A keypad should then appear and you can input a three digit code. Below you will find a couple of the different ones.

113- Immigrant song Led Zeppelin

306- lose yourself Eminem

711- Paranoid Black Sabbath

Call the Ministry

Have you ever noticed the phone booth outside of Diagon Alley near Kings Cross Station? Well you can pick up the phone and dial the Ministry of Magic.

All you have to do is dial M.A.G.I.C. (62442). You will end up hearing a special message. It’s a shame you don’t get transported to the Ministry of Magic like in the movies or possibly even to Universal Epic Universe when that park is completed.

Eat my shorts

If you find yourself in Springfield and you hear the phone ringing near the Kwik-E-Mart. Pick it up to hear some of your favorite Simpson characters on the other end.

Real Props

When you are walking to Springfield from the front of the park you will pass a train and DeLorean. Both of them are the actual vehicles from Back to the Future III.

The Jurassic Park explorer over at Islands of Adventure is also one from the movie too.

Gone but not forgotten

Diagon Alley sits in the location of what use to be Jaws the ride. There are many nods throughout the land that pays tribute to this. That is if you know where to look.

Before you even walk into Diagon Alley you will see a record cover of “Here’s to swimming with bow legged women” by the Quint trio. The shrunken heads sing “show me the way to go home” in Knockturn Alley. You can even find a Shark jawbone outside of the ice cream parlor.

Look down

Most of us don’t look down when we walk. But in Universal Studios you might want to. Check out the different manhole covers throughout the park. They are themed to the different areas they are in.

Free tours

Did you know it is possible to get a free tour when visiting Universal Studios Orlando? Now it doesn’t happen all the time and a team member has to be available. But if the stars align, you will be in for a treat.

I’ve never been lucky enough to do this but a friend of mine has. Basically, a team member takes you “backstage” to areas not normally seen by guests. It is said that the Mummy, Men in Black, and Race through New York are some of the rides that offer this.

Let us know in the comments below if you have been one of the lucky ones.

Bananas?

What’s a minions favorite treat? Bananas of course. Well outside of Minion Mayhem you can find a couple of banana trees.

I just love how you can find these simple things that can really help bring everything together.

Two Floors

The Transformers ride is housed in a huge studio. However, it is still just a little too small. The ride actually takes place on two different floors.

The ride vehicle is loaded onto a lift during the road but you’ll barely ever know. This is done so seamlessly.
