Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury: ‘Biggest fight in UK boxing history’ will rake in over £100m and become first nine-figure all-British bout

The all-British heavyweight fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is predicted to rake in more than £100million – making it the most lucrative bout in UK boxing history.

On Wednesday, Eddie Hearn confirmed that Joshua and Fury agreed financial terms in principle for a two-fight deal scheduled for 2021.

Boxing fans have been waiting to see an all-British fight between Joshua and Fury for years

Talks are ongoing between both camps over a highly-anticipated undisputed world heavyweight title clash – a fight all boxing fans from across the globe have been craving for years.

Joshua won back his WBA, IBF & WBO titles when he overcame Andy Ruiz Jr last December, while Fury beat Wilder for the WBC championship in February.

It is too early to know the exact earning figures but the fight will almost certainly break the £100m mark and become the most lucrative bout that the UK has seen.

Frank Warren, who co-promotes Fury with Bob Arum, believes both Fury and Joshua could pocket between £47million-£55million from each fight – assuming there is a rematch as planned.

He told ESPN: “These guys [Fury, Joshua] could get between $60-70 million each from one fight against each other, double that if there’s a rematch, in one year.”

Prior to Fury’s emphatic win over Wilder in February, Arum said that the Gypsy King pocketed over £30m.

Whilst it is believed Joshua banked between £40m-£60m after defeating Andy Ruiz Jr last December.

Retired five-weight king Floyd Mayweather lays claim the most lucrative fight in history.

The American earned a jaw-dropping £250m back in 2015 when he defeated Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas.
