Manchester United have allegedly come to a verbal agreement with Mario Mandzukic ahead of the Juventus striker joining in January.

Mandzukic, 33, was linked with the Red Devils throughout the summer as they searched for a new forward after offloading both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.

No striker eventually moved to Old Trafford and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have struggled with only Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood to lead the line this term.

Links with Mandzukic have resurfaced in the build-up to the reopening of the transfer window in January, especially given the former Croatia international’s lack of game time at Juventus.

He has not made a single appearance for the Serie A giants since Maurizio Sarri was appointed their head coach during the summer, and even only appeared on the bench for three of a possible nine matches.

And, according to the Express, Mandzukic is set to depart Juve in January having already ‘reached a verbal agreement’ with the Red Devils over a switch to Old Trafford.

Juve want to offload Mandzukic, but the report adds they will hold out for £10million before selling him in January.
