Eddie Hearn expects Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury rematch NEXT with Dillian Whyte to fight winner

Eddie Hearn believes Deontay Wilder will rematch Tyson Fury next, with the winner then being forced to face Dillian Whyte.

The rival promoter, who guides the career of Anthony Joshua, expects the current top two heavyweights to be pressured into diverting from their original plan as he closes in on a WBC resolution for his man Whyte.

Hearn has stated recently that he believes the ‘Body Snatcher’s’ upcoming Fight with Oscar Rivas will be a final eliminator to determine Wilder’s next mandatory challenger.

However, they are currently in the process of settling their dispute with the WBC regarding when this mandatory will be enforced – and it seems it could come sooner than the champion may like.

Wilder has already announced that his next two fights are signed (a rematch with Luis Ortiz, then a rematch with Fury) however this could be disrupted by Whyte.

If so, he may attempt to change track and face Fury first, which is what Hearn now thinks will happen.

“I don’t believe Wilder will fight Ortiz,” the Matchroom boss told Boxing Social.

“I think he’ll fight Fury next, I think that’s what they’ll do.

“And I think the winner will have to fight Dillian Whyte.

“That’s how I see it going. I don’t think Wilder now will take the risk of Luis Ortiz.

“I think they’ll go straight into that fight at the end of the year and I think the winner will have to fight Dillian Whyte.”

Fury’s co-promoter Bob Arum had previously mapped out their plans for the Wilder vs Fury rematch to take place next year, but hinted at scenario that could see them meet sooner following the ‘Gypsy King’s’ win over Tom Schwarz.

Arum said to Helen Yee Sports: “Because ESPN did such a magnificent job in helping us promote this last fight with Schwarz, maybe we can go right now into a Wilder fight.

“But that would depend on how the other side feels about it – how FOX and PBC feel about it.

“But I think maybe we should be talking about – stop fooling around with interim fights.”
