The Advantages of Wall Safes

If you are looking for a security safe for your home, there are several different types. There are floor safes, which you can bolt to the floor or a wall, there are in-floor safes, and there are wall safes.

Wall safes for the home are often smaller than freestanding floor safes. They must be so that they can fit in the wall of an average home. They also need installation, although installing a wall safe is easy. There are some advantages that wall safes have over other home safes, though. Here are the main advantages of in-wall safes.

Take up Less Space

Wall safes are inset into a wall, so they take up a lot less space than a floor safe. A large steel floor safe will take up a lot of space and they don’t look very attractive. You can hide a wall safe behind a picture or some furniture. It won’t take up any floor space at all, and it won’t affect the visual appeal of a room.

Easy to Conceal

The most secure safe is one that a burglar can’t find. A wall safe fits flush with the wall, so you can cover it with a picture, or you can hide it behind a bookshelf. Standard floor safes are easy to find. They also make it obvious to a thief that there must something valuable inside. If a thief can’t see the safe, they won’t even attempt to break into it. That’s one of the reasons why wall safes are so effective.

More Secure

Even if a burglar does find a wall safe, it will be bolted to the inside of the wall, so it’s much harder for a burglar to take it away. Thieves might grab a free-standing safe and take it away with them. A wall safe bolted into the wall is very difficult to remove. It would also make a lot of noise if a burglar attempted to remove it, which is the last thing a thief wants.

Convenient to Access

A wall safe is much easier to access than a floor safe. You can fit a wall-mounted safe at eye-level, so you don’t need to bend down to get at the contents of the safe.

Things to Consider When Buying a Wall Safe Wall Safe

Wall safes provide a very good way of protecting your valuables. When burglars break into a home, they want to be in and out fast. They will not want to waste time looking for concealed all safe that may not be there. Even if they do find the safe, they won’t want to spend time breaking into the safe, and they won’t want to make a lot of noise trying to pry it out of the wall.

If you are thinking about buying a wall-mounted safe, here are the main things to think about:

Size

Before you buy a wall safe, check the dimensions. Make sure that you have enough space in the wall to fit the wall safe. Wall-mounted safes fit between the studs of a wall. They bolt onto to the studs for extra security. You want the safe to fit flush against that exterior of the wall. So, the depth of the safe is an important consideration.

Concealment

When you are deciding where to install your wall safe, think about how you will conceal it. The best wall-mounted safes have flush fittings on the door so that you hide the safe behind a picture. If you don’t need to access the safe very often, you could hide it behind some furniture. Remember, one of the big advantages of wall safes is that you can hide them.

What Will You Keep in the Wall Safe?

What you intend to keep in the safe will determine the type of wall safe that you will need. If you want to store important documents, the best in-wall safe for your needs would be a fire-resistant one. If you want to keep a gun in it, but still have fast access to it, the best wall safe might be a biometric fingerprint safe.

Price

Of course, your budget will also play a part in how you decide which will be the best safe for you. The price you pay for a safe will be a sign of the quality of the product. Fire-resistant safes, for example, are usually more expensive than basic safes.

Read the Reviews

Read the customer reviews before you buy a safe. Reviews are the best guide you can get to the quality and reliability of a product. You will always get some negative reviews of any product. In fact, if there were no negative reviews, that would look suspicious. Even so, if most reviews are positive, then that’s usually a sign of a good quality product.

They are the right size to fit the 16 standard inches between the studs. Here are the steps for installing an in-wall safe in your home.

The best tool for doing this is a drywall saw. Remember that the safe should fit flush into the wall so that you can cover it with a picture. The outer lip of the safe will cover any minor imperfections in your cutting.
