Doesn’t “pain” to Empathize

Tags: pain sleep basic

Hardly got any Sleep last few days. Was down with a stomach upset and had gastric pains all through the night.
After about 10 antibiotics, my stomach seemed better and I slept like a log yesterday. Stood in the balcony today morning enjoying the winter fog, feeling really good after a peaceful undisturbed sleep.

My thoughts casually drifted off to how this small happiness was taken for granted by me. Getting a good night’s sleep could be a wish come true for so many people. Ongoing issues of arthritis, age, terminal diseases etc take away this Basic need from more than one third of the world.  Many names came to my mind – people who continue motivating and pushing themselves despite enduring physical pain for most parts of a day. All they needed was some basic attention from me to help them keep going.

It doesn’t cost anything really to show some basic empathy to people in pain. Even talking to them once in a day can help divert their mind. Joking with your grandparents for e.g, is something that we can always spare a few minutes for.

The least we all can do is say a 30 sec prayer about a pain free life for others. I am not getting religious here. Nor am I expecting miracles –  but even if one person gets some relief due to our faith and effort, its worth it!

I will do my bit for sure. Do think about what you can do
