The Origin Story: Chapter 3

Previously on The Origin Story:

That frustration is what made her realise that she had something special. She had way more intimate feelings for him than a best friend or for this to be just a crush. This was something more. She was too angry at him because they didn’t meet. She was frustrated they didn’t talk much. That is the night she realised this wasn’t just a crush, this could be something serious.
Of course she didn’t reveal this to him until few years down the road.

The start of any relationship presents many a moment which remain as a fond memory to be reminisced on a rainy cold Sunday afternoon, sipping hot coffee. In cases like this one, where their paths intertwine early in their lives, childhood Memories often give valuable lessons as well as emotional memories. This next incident is the latter.

It was a school Funfair, where this happened. It was his first school funfair after graduation, and this was her last, before graduation. And for her, this funfair had an added plus point, he was going to be there. She had a stall in the function along with her friends, who knew about them. And when he came to the stall, there was a lot of teasing and blushing. She had to work for a while, so he enjoyed the event with his friends for a while, and identifying games to play and food to eat, which she and they would enjoy.

She soon got off work, and they roamed and enjoyed the funfair. A lot of games and amazing food. And to give credit, he was right, she did enjoy what he picked out. Obviously, she didn’t know that he had done that, and he revealed this to her later in the relationship. After enjoying the funfair for a good few hours, they just sat and talked for a while, before going into the school building. The staff and the service staff knew both of them, and it was a pleasant surprise to see him again, after an entire year.

They, along with her friends went and sat in one of the classrooms. So many memories in those hallways for either of them. They reminisced about their fondest memories in the classroom, in the labs, even met a few teachers who were more than happy to see them.
They then roamed around the school premises, talking and telling each other fond memories of their time in school. The school grounds, cycle park area, the hallways, all the places, resonating with nostalgic memories.

For others, the evening ended after the funfair, but they were together, and still had some time to spare. This probably was the first time he dropped her home on his bike, for every evening after their lesson, they used to walk home, talking and laughing resulting in drunken-like walks. The evening was quite ritualistic, train together for a couple of hours, walk back home, and talk some more at the same resting place. This ritual was only broken on some days, because of hunger, so they’d grab a bite to eat. They had the same favourite fast food. And she introduced him to that particular place, and he had never had a better variant of that delicacy.

That night is forever etched into the history as one of the best memories of their initial times. That’s the power of pure happiness. Situations don’t always make the best memories, the people do. When you’re with the people you love, a simple walk underneath the stars can turn an evening of joy into something more magical and worth remembering. And this tradition of walking under the stars is something that is still strong amongst these 2.

People might think that the best memories are unforgettable. I deny that to a certain extent. You may forget your fondest moments, you may not remember them at your finest moments, but when you need them, they will provide the light in the darkest of times. And when you want to relive that moment, all it takes is a simple thought, just close your eyes and you’ll be transported back in time because such memories never fade. It’s your very own time capsule, unaffected by the present and the future.

Such memories are what Happy Places are made of.
