gazed around
at the audience
and began a solo
performance.
The  trilling overhead
made the Bougainvilleas
flutter wildly.

In a faraway high perch,
some winged visitors
added their contrasting,
background notes.
The music stopped
when the harsh noise
of canines on a stroll,
struck a jarring note.
