No Social Media Engagement On Sunday Feels So Good

I didn’t engaged even once in all of my Social Media pages on Sunday. I feels good, I must say! Because I wasn’t spending too much time engaging with others on-line yesterday, I spent the day building meaningful conversations with people that I like rather than responding to comments from people that I barely know. I wonder: How can people not see that all this social media crazy is de facto not all that important?

Gary Vaynerchuck defends the thesis that people must always be producing content on-line because there is where conversation occur these days.  I do agree with him that the youth tend to use these tools to communicate and for them, there is some value in spending time in platforms such as instagram, snapchat and many others. I do question this, however. Are these conversations transactional and meaningful or simply transactional?

I’m not sure if spending hours on end in social media is all that beneficial, especially if your audience isn’t there. I would rather take a break and engage with people on-on-one. If nothing else, It feels good, ladies and gents.

Spending too much time on instagram will help me very little in my quest to making a difference in the life of others, I think. By the way, I’m not saying that using social media is a bad thing or that you shouldn’t use it. Perhaps, we should just be critical about its function use. My advice is for people to get away from it once in a while. One of the ways to do that is to have a no Sunday engagement day.

That’s the right thing to do.
