The Most Exciting Things To Do in Moab

Moab is a desert area in southern Utah with beautiful geological formations and terrain. It’s an outdoor enthusiast magnet, attracting thousands of tourists from all over the world every year. As such, it’s a fun place to be, and local hospitality businesses know it. There are all sorts of activities that you can get stuck into here, all of them offering a level of excitement you’ll struggle to find anywhere else.

Off-road Jeep Driving

Moab benefits from having a weirdly unique landscape. The area looks a bit like a giant skatepark, thanks to mile after mile of undulating bare rock. This makes it the perfect location for Jeep Driving. Soil coverage is minimal – so there’s virtually no risk of getting stuck in the mud. But undulations and elevations are spectacular, meaning that you can really push 4X4 vehicles to their limit.

Mountain Biking

Moab is also home to some of the world’s most famous Mountain Biking trails. The relentlessly dry conditions lead to less wear and tear on the bikes themselves. And the unusual smooth, rocky terrain is popular among bikers looking to spend all day in the saddle.

There are multiple Mountain biking routes in the Moab area. Helpfully, local park authorities mark the trails with while dotted lines so you don’t veer off course. Just be sure to take a quality mountain bike with you. Old hacks won’t suffice.

Rafting

Even though Moab is a desertified area, it is still home to the mighty Colorado River, which means that there are plenty of opportunities to get out onto the water. Moab rafting is just as varied as its mountain biking. You can enjoy gentle, scenic floats down the river or head to raging river rapids that require you to wear full armor.

Moab is home to some of the USA’s most spectacular booking trails. Much of the area is within the national park, meaning that you’re free to roam to your heart’s content, without worrying about trespassing on private land.

There are a range of trails to tackle. Family-orientated routes are suitable for people of all ages, including children under eight. Others are for experienced enthusiasts and fitness fanatics. The great thing about the area is that you get to choose your level of difficulty.

Moab is a treasure trove of incredible hiking locations. Perhaps the most famous is the Corona Arch which you’ll find some ten miles from the Highway 279 trailhead.

You’ll also want to check out the Fisher’s Tower trail if you’re in the area. This will introduce you to some stunning rock formations.

Lastly, if you’re a motoring or motorcycling enthusiast, you’ll want to check out Moab’s scenic drives. Among the best is the Scenic Byway, also called Potash Road. Many of these routes follow the natural course of the Colorado River, providing views of the water on one side, and Moab’s unique geology on the other. As you make your way around, there are plenty of places to stop off and camp for the night.
