These last couple of years, I’m sure at one point or another, we’ve all discovered that our homes and apartments could use a little TLC. While the thought of making some of these changes can be overwhelming, trust me they’ll be worth it in the end. Here are some changes that you can make to add a little Love to your space!
1. Keep It Cozy
Having a cold House or apartment in the winter is the worst. I’ve lived in a loft these last four years and although I love my high ceilings, this place can get downright frigid during the winter.
If you’re running your heat during the day and it’s still freezing- unfortunately, my friend, you have an insulation issue. Having a radiant barrier fitted as part of your insulation can help to regulate the temperature of the house all year round.
It’s also a good idea to get someone in to check and see if you need some changes made to the roof of your home to help keep the heat in. If you’re like me and live in an apartment, space heaters are your friend! I have one in my bedroom that saves me every winter!
2. Check Your Windows
The windows of your house have probably been there since the house was built. If you have just invested in a new house, then you probably have the best quality windows that are available. However, if you have an older home, you might want to change the windows.
The seals around the windows and doors can become loose and peel away after a while so it is a good idea to ensure that they are not causing any leaks. It is possible to get your existing windows fixed with some fresh seals if you don’t want to replace them just yet.
If you live in an apartment, have maintenance come and check your windows for any air leaks! Also ask if they can recaulk those leaks and other air pockets they might find.
3. Upgrade Your Kitchen Appliances
Instead of spending money on that daily latte from your local coffee shop- it’s time to upgrade your kitchen appliances! You can recreate your favorite coffee shop cappuccinos and pastries by buying these appliances for your space.
Coffee machines with steamers are readily available, it just takes a little time to learn how to make the milk fluffy and frothy. There are any number of kitchen gadgets that you can invest in to help recreate the cafe lunch at home. By upgrading your kitchen appliances, you instantly add a little love to your space because it allows you to create your favorite things without leaving the house!
4. Rethink Your Home Office
If you’ve been working from home, it might be time to reevaluate your home office. Is it doing its job? If not, it might be time to spruce it up! Add plants to your office to make it feel a bit warmer and cozy. Play around with the layout of your office- something as simple as that can create a feeling of newness to the space you spend a good portion of your day in!
