Now, decluttering your home doesn’t have to be this painful ordeal, nor does it have to be something that happens overnight… you can do it in phases or room by room. And understand that it’s not a one-time deal, either. Once you start to declutter, it will be a steady and on-going process to maintain to keep your home free from clutter. There are several different ways to declutter your home too. By adopting the habit of decluttering, you’ll start to see your stress and anxiety levels go down significantly.

The Heating and Cooling System in Your Home

The heating and cooling system in your home plays a major role in your physical and mental health, whether you realize it or not.

Physically, maybe you turn the heat or air on and start to notice yourself sneezing, having headaches, or even feeling short of breath… All of those symptoms are signs that something is going on with your HVAC. Maybe you need to replace your filters; When your filters are dirty, the air or heat blowing is only blowing out dirty air recirculating the dust and allergens in your home. It’s a good idea to change your filters every 60 to 90 days, especially if you own pets.

Mentally, your heating and cooling systems can make you sick simply from stressing over the bill. In extreme temperatures, especially during the hot summer months and cold winter months, it’s common for most people’s Electric Bill to be considerably higher than normal, and that’s because it takes more power during those times to cool or warm a house.

It’s perfectly understandable to stress over your electric bill but sometimes your bill isn’t high because of your power usage; it’s high because you have an expensive provider. When that’s the case, it’s time to shop around and compare electric rates. But you just have to see if that option is available in your area. For example, you can shop electricity rates in Connecticut to find the best deal for your home’s usage. 

This tactic, on top of having a better understanding of your thermostat, will prove to lower your stress level about your electric bill substantially.

Water Stains on Your Walls and Ceiling

Have you ever looked at your walls and ceiling and noticed brown stains anywhere? If you have, that’s a major sign that there’s a water leak somewhere in your home. When you see those stains, not only does it let you know that there is a leak somewhere but it also lets you know that there is the potential for mold as well, and mold is notorious for causing respiratory issues.

If you notice any type of stains on the walls or ceiling of your home, holes in the roof, or water coming from unusual places, you need to immediately hire a plumber to find the source of the leak. Depending on the source of the leak, you may have to hire an additional contractor like a roofer, mold specialist, or foundation specialist.
