3 Tips on Calming Dogs During Fireworks

4th of July weekend can be an incredibly stressful time in your home if you have a dog who is terrified of loud noises. Miles and Humphrey bark when they hear a neighbor walk by my door in the hall, so loud noises make them bark and whine for HOURS. Thankfully, over time I’ve found great ways of calming them down during fireworks and other obnoxiously loud noises. If you want to put your dog at ease, check out these 3 tips on calming dogs during fireworks:

1. Thunder Shirts

Thunder shirts are an excellent way to help ease dog anxiety. Thunder shirts work by essentially giving your dog a full-body hug. The compression provided by the shirt helps soothe nerves and calm many dogs that are experiencing anxiety.

2. Pheromone Collars

Pheromone collars work in much the same way as diffusers, except that your dog’s body heat activates the release of pheromones. Simply fit the collar snugly to your dog’s neck. As the collar is heated by your dog’s body heat, it will release pheromones. Collars are nice because the pheromones travel wherever your dog goes.

3. The Missing Link Collagen Care Calm & Focus Chews

The Missing Link Collagen Care Calm & Focus Chews were another game-changer for me. Not only do these chews help Miles and Humphrey when fireworks, storms, and other stressors grate on them, but they also help support his joints and connective tissue.

These chews are made with broad-spectrum hemp, chamomile, l-theanine, and probiotics, so they calm, soothe, and promote good health across the board. My dogs are my fur sons, so anything that has this many benefits, I’m all for!
