The Truth About Being Too Overweight

Being Overweight is bad for your health. I’m sure you hear that a lot from your mother, spouse, doctor or read it everywhere. I bet you think to your self “ughh! its not that easy for me, I have **insert latest excuse here**” I agree, it isn’t that easy but at the end of the day you make the decision to give in to your cravings instead of your better judgment. Little by little that’s what we did to get so overweight and little by little the pounds kept adding on until next thing you know your clothes aren’t fitting and your legs are rubbing together when you wear a dress.

Being obese is the root of plenty of  medical issues:

  • Type 2 diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • Heart disease and strokes
  • Certain types of cancer
  • Sleep apnea
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Fatty liver disease
  • Kidney disease
  • Pregnancy problems, such as high blood sugar during pregnancy, high blood pressure, and increased risk for cesarean delivery (C-section)

Here are the things people don’t talk about when your too overweight and frankly should be motivation enough skip that pizza and have a salad with salmon for lunch instead:

Migraines

“Most recently, researchers from Johns Hopkins recruited 3,862 adults to examine this issue, and concluded that people with a high Body Mass index (BMI) indicating overweight or obesity were 81 percent more likely to have episodic migraines (those that occur 0 to 14 days per month) than were people with a lower body mass index. The study found that this association with weight was particularly true among women under 50 (their episodic migraine risk was three times higher than men’s). It also showed that as BMI went up, so did the chance of developing migraine.”

Plus Sizes

Hardly anyone carries plus size and when you find a store that does, the clothes are ugly!

Sweating

You sweat a lot more when you are overweight compared to thin people, and it can get embarrassing. I have changed a lot in life to fit around the sweating. I wont wear certain materials because I know no matter where I am going, I am probably going to sweat. I have long gorgeous hair but you will never see me straighten it and keep it down, ever. There’s no point because in about 20 min of going anywhere i begin to sweat and all the little frizzies start popping out and all the work i put into straitening it is wasted because it beings to poof. Which brings me to my next item on this list…

Pimples

Where? Between your legs and under your arms. I kid you not but after a day of walking around Disney I wake up the next morning to a couple pimples under my arms. There goes my chance to wear a tank top for a few days.

Chaffing

I have to wear shorts under my dresses ALL THE TIME. My husband hates it because… Well we are newlyweds so I’m sure you know why But if I don’t wear shorts then I get really band chaffing between my legs.

Hemorrhoids

Oh the embarrassment to talk about such a subject but its the truth. Hemorrhoids are more common in the overweight population for several reasons including inadequate fiber intake, decreased level of physical activity and prolonged sitting.

I can go one but if not being happy when you look in the mirror isnt enough motivation then hopefully the above helps!
