Hard Work

We want to shine. All of us need motivation in life. We have dreams. Some work towards fulfilling them. Some don't. But some do exceptionally well, and this post is about them!
The Champions
In any field of human endeavor, there is someone who stands as a torchbearer for the future generations. It is because of them, people get the courage to dream about their lives. They break rules. They show that impossible is no more impossible.'INDIA' as it is now, was unknown a few decades ago, the computer was the size of a room when it was invented. When Mc Cauley drafted IPC, minimum marriage age for a girl was 10 years. The USA destroyed Japan's future in second world war. A few decades ago, it seemed that India will be a socialist state. Women were seen as caregivers and nothing else!
BUT
Now, India is the largest democracy in the world. A 5-year-old is can operate the smartphone. Marriage age for girls is raised to 18 years, girl education and women empowerment are priorities now. USA and Japan are the strongest allies. India is on its way towards capitalism. We say, times changed and so the things. But there are mortal beings working day in and day out to change the times. They are called Champions.
Is it luck or pure hard work?

I had a conviction that it is only the hard work and nothing else that makes anyone champion. Yeah, this view helps us to work hard and so it does no harm. However, we cannot have convictions without proper reasoning and now I call it a scientific proof. I got the proof when I happened to read "The Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell. In Outliers, Gladwell examines the factors that contribute to high levels of success. To support his thesis, he examines why the majority of Canadian ice hockey players are born in the first few months of the calendar year, how Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates achieved his extreme wealth, how The Beatles became one of the most successful musical acts in human history. After reading that book, one point became clear. You must be lucky to have the intelligence, willpower and resources to accomplish great things. All who get these resources do not win. Those who work tirelessly towards their goals become Champions. So all we need to do is to strive hard for achieving our goals, cause that's all we can do. I end this with the quote of A P J Abdul Kalam            " Excellence is a continuous process and not an accident."
Bye.
