52-Week Blog Challenge: Week 2

Week 2 of the 52-Week Blog Challenge is all about my favorite things!

I don’t know about you, but I can’t stop hearing Julie Andrews singing classic, My Favorite Things.

The bog challenge was started by Britts Daily Dose & Sit Back And Just Live They welcomed anyone to link up with them.  I decided to go for it and you can too All you need to do is 1. post the below banner and 2. link both of their blogs in your post!

Below I will share some of my favorite things and I will try to keep my picks current unless otherwise stated.  Be thinking of some of your favorite things to add in the comments section!

Favorite music:  In the past several months I have found Indie Music to be my new favorite genre.  Sadly, that’s about as specific as I can get. I don’t have Pandora app on my phone.  My apologies.

If you also love Indie music, list you favorites in the comments section for me to take a listen once I get musical act together.

Favorite book:  Fat Girl Walking by Brittany Gibbons aka @brittanyhearself.  Having just finished one Kindle read, I was given a list of related books based on my previous picks.  Reading nonfiction has become one of my great loves.

Fat Girl Walking By Brittany Gibbons

To read an account of accepting one’s weight/body size rather than carrying the emotional baggage around that comes with it, was liberating,  in the candid account.

Add Brittany’s snarky wit and you’ll find yourself laughing out loud (as in actually laughing out loud).  You’ll also likely find yourself still wiping the tears of the laughter from your eyes when you finish the read.

Favorite movie:  Arrival starring Denis Villeneuve and Amy Adams is a suspense/thriller to put it mildly.  What makes the film relatable  is the human element of asking, would you still do something beautiful, if you knew how it would turn out in the end.

Favorite Netflix binge watch:  Call The Midwife is not new, but it is new to me thanks to the world of Netflix.  As usual, I sat down to watch one episode and ended up staying up late through 5 episodes as if there was a flash quiz in the morning.

What did I like about Call The Midwives?  Seeing 1940s England brought to life pretty much has me spellbound in and of itself, however, the episodes are well written and relatable to the human spirit no matter what time period.

Favorite quote:  “Don’t look at your feet to see if you are doing it right.  Just dance.” by Anne Lamott.

Usually I am more of a sappy, deep-meaning quote kind of girl.  However,  sometimes I really need to kick it into gear and remember to keep doing whatever it is I am doing without wondering if what I’m doing is right.

Whether in school, workplace, or on my own, I’ve always felt more comfortable if I knew I was doing something right, allowing the fear of doing wrong to run me over like a Mack truck.  That’s exhausting and probably accountable for my tired looking eyes and knots in my neck.

If you fit into this category, than this is for you, girlfriend!

Favorite part of the holiday season:  The timeless Christmas music and the beautiful Christmas lights.  Sitting in front of a lit Christmas tree glowing, with a glass of wine, listening to clear, memory-invoking melodies makes for a perfect, cozy evening.

Stay tuned for next week’s blog challenge topic:  Meet my family!

If you are participating in the 52-Week Blog Challenge, I would love to hear from you!
