Wedge sneakers, anyone? Do you like this athleisure footwear trend? At first I thought I might be too old to pull it off, plus I’m not sure if I can embrace the thick white sole. But overall, I think they’re cute. But are they comfy? Supportive? I did my best to find Wedge sneakers with the best reviews for comfort. We love the cozy look of the Ryka Gwyn with its water-repellent wool upper with stretch-knit goring at the instep. A side-zip allows for easy on and off. A 1.5″ wedge heel adds just a little lift. A DSW customer had this to say about her new Ryka Gwyns:

We’ve always liked OTBT. They’re not always billed as a comfort brand, but tend to earn high marks for style and support. The OTBT Bethel wedge sneaker is no exception. The wedge heel is only 1.5″, so toes shouldn’t feel crammed into the front of the shoe. A memory-foam footbed with moderate arch support, goring at the side and instep, a warm fleece lining and an anti-slip sole all add to the overall comfort of the Bethel. A happy Zappos customer says:

I wear orthotics for arthritis in my left foot, and I am careful to prevent pressure on the top of my foot. This shoe is so amazingly comfortable that I forget that I have foot issues. I think that they are very attractive as well although I was a little wary of the white sole. But it looks terrific, and I am more than happy with this shoe.

I had to include the Felicia wedge sneaker by Linea Paolo because it comes in so many fun colors and patterns (like the desert camo featured above)–and the hidden wedge looks more streamlined than a wedge of white rubber! If you have a narrow foot, you may find these work best for you, as most customer reviews mention the snug fit from toe to heel (you may want to order up a half size). However, these may not be the best choice if you have bunions! We appreciate that the Linea Paolo Felicia is available in extended sizes 4-13. Find it for $79.90-139.95 from Zappos, Nordstrom, and Amazon.

Another hidden wedge option (only 2″), the Dr. Scholl’s If Only wedge sneaker features a memory foam-cushioned footbed, and dual goring at the instep. Find the Dr. Scholl’s If Only in sizes 6-11 for $65-80 from Zappos, Dr. Scholl’s Shoes, Rack Room Shoes, and DSW.

We’ve long trusted Naturalizer to provide a comfortable spin on today’s trends, and look–they just released a wedge sneaker! The Kai offers a 2 inch hidden wedge with a 3/4″ platform,  and a contoured insole with moderate arch support. If you have a high instep, you might prefer a lace-up for a better fit. Available in sizes 4-12 for $119-129 from Nordstrom, and Naturalizer.
