Hotter Tara Canvas Slip-ons Review: Everything’s Coming Up Roses

Hotter Tara Canvas Slip-on

This review of the Hotter Tara is sponsored by Hotter.com. The opinions are completely our own based on experience.

You’d have to be hiding under a rock not to notice big fat flowers popping up on any and all fabrics this spring. If you’d like to step out of your comfort zone to try this trend, I suggest starting with a shoe before covering yourself in posies head to toe. In fact, you can check off two spring fashion musts with the Hotter Tara:  floral fabric (check), canvas slip-on sneaker (check)–how efficient! And I know Laura Ashley will be smiling down on you in her flowered jumper.

Hotter Tara Slip-on

I want to hug the Hotter Tara and thank it for its great fit. This is a slip-on with no slip-off! My narrow heels stay in the shoe with every step preventing blisters and a whole lot of frustration. I can trust the Hotter brand for their consistent sizing across styles, and a glove-like fit–wider at the forefoot tapering to a snug heel. The Tara is fully lined with a soft textile fabric (with exception of base of heel) that feels great against the skin should you wear these sockless–and it doesn’t irritate toe bumps like canvas does.

The footbed is leather-lined and lightly cushioned with minimal arch support. While the Tara doesn’t feel completely flat like Keds or Vans, my feet need more support. So what did I do? I took out the removable footbed, inserted a 3/4 length orthotic ( Treadlabs or Birkenstock Blue), then placed the Hotter footbed over the orthotic. This combo provides both the support and cushioning my feet crave without the bulk of a full-length orthotic. The dual-goring at the instep stretches to accommodate a higher instep when used with orthotics, plus Hotter’s fit is more generous than a standard canvas slip-on.

As you can see from the photos, floral isn’t your only option in the Tara slip-on. If you prefer a neutral, try the Tara in blue or truffle textured canvas. Find the Hotter Tara in sizes 5-11, medium width (which is a generous medium) for $79 at Hotter.com. For help finding the right size Hotter shoe for you, visit their informative fit guide.

Currently, you can enjoy 25% off sitewide with free shipping (which is awesome because Hotter shoes ship from the UK with a shipping charge of $10).
