What is IELTS Online?

IELTS Online is the new digital version of the traditional IELTS exam, but the difference is that it can be taken at home. It allows students to broaden their horizons and continue their education journey through a new, flexible way of taking the IELTS exam. So if you didn’t have a testing centre close to you before – no problem!  You can now take the test anytime, in a wide range of locations around the world.

It should be noted that IELTS Online is for IELTS Academic testing only. If you need to sit the IELTS General exam for visa and immigration purposes, then you’ll need to contact your nearest authorised IELTS testing centre to arrange a face-to-face appointment.

Is IELTS Online testing the same as face-to-face testing?

The IELTS Online test offers practically all the same features as the paper and computer versions taken at a test centre, with the added benefits of flexibility, comfort and efficiency. The test format, scoring, and timing of the online test is exactly the same as Ielts Academic tests taken at a licensed testing centre. All Listening, Reading, and Writing tests are delivered in precisely the same way. The Speaking component of the test is conducted online via a video call with a qualified IELTS Examiner. Here’s a simple comparison of the two versions of the test:
