Australia opens up in 2022: Students, skilled migrants and working holiday visa holders wanted

Hi, this is Jay, today I have exciting news!

It was long due, and it finally happened. If you want to experience living and working in Australia, SPOILER ALERT: this is your year.

During the last week, the Australian federal government announced multiple migratory changes as part of its plan to mitigate the skill shortage caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. We’ll tell you everything you need to know about the new rules and how E2 Test Prep can help you make your Australian dream a reality.

Key takeaways:

  • Visa fees will be waived for student and working holiday visa applications placed before March 19 of 2022.
  • International students and holidaymakers can now work more than 40 hours a week in any industry.
  • English is still a requirement for accessing high education and immigration. We are here to help you.
  • Only fully vaccinated travellers can enter Australia.

Australia’s doors are opening again

The Australian migration minister confirmed that over 43,000 students have returned to the country in January. This is massive for the first time in the last two years. Still, the doors remain open for returning and new students from all countries and nationalities. You can be the next one!

At E2 Test Prep, we know first-hand the stories of thousands of students who, through discipline and dedication, have aced their English tests with the help of our courses and have successfully accessed Universities and/or settled permanently in English speaking countries. See the inspiring story of Joanna, one of our E2 success students.

Australia has been at the top of the most popular destinations for students and migrants for over a decade. If you want to know more about this destination, check out our article about the 7 Must-Knows Before Moving to Australia.

Despite the easing of some rules, please remember that English requirements for non-native speakers who want to access high education or start a migration process are still a must. In addition, the best way to demonstrate your English communication abilities is through an exam.

Did you know E2 Test Prep is an official partner and offers courses for ALL the exams required to certify your English proficiency in Australia?

No visa fees and refunds for new arrivals

The migration authority announced that the Visa fees for new applicants for the student visa (subclass 500) and the working holiday visa (subclass 417) will be suspended until the 19th of March of 2022.

Moreover, every visa holder of those denominations that arrives before that date will be entitled to a full refund of the application fee they already paid.

The current price of a working holiday visa application is 495 AUD for working holidaymakers and 630 AUD for international students; it certainly feels great to know you can use that money for something else! Perhaps some English One-to-one tutorials to boost your confidence if you ask me ;).

Working hours relaxation for visa holders and secondary applicants

The Australian Department of Immigration and Home Affairs confirmed that active students will be eligible to work unrestricted hours and students that arrive into the country before their course begins and their spouse or de facto partner as a secondary applicant.

The above means that If you come to Australia as a student with your special someone, only one of you is required to study while the other can work full time, that would ease some stress on your education goals while getting a better income.

As I mentioned before, Australia faces an unprecedented skill shortage that needs talent in all industries.

There are abundant opportunities in the hospitality, construction, healthcare, transport and retail sectors. While finding a role might not be that difficult, I do recommend reinforcing your English communication skills so you can focus entirely on doing meaningful work.

Check out www.e2english.com for unique and interactive content we have created to improve your English skills. While you are there, you can also take a free placement test to determine your level. We also have a fantastic podcast called Everyday English with E2 that releases a new episode every week!

Being fully vaccinated is a must

To ensure public safety during Australia’s re-opening, the country has a strict policy about vaccination requirements. Every traveller must provide proof of a full dose of a vaccine approved by the Australian therapeutic goods administration. If you want to validate if your vaccine is part of the approved list, click here.

If you are still waiting to be fully vaccinated, but your dream is to study or migrate to an English speaking country, don’t fret. You can still do something about it immediately. Most English tests are valid for up to three years from the date you get your results, start your preparation with E2 Test Prep today and be ready for when you can travel.

My final advice to you

At E2 Test Prep, we believe the smallest step can become your biggest leap. If your plan is to take your next step in life in an English speaking country, we are here to help you accomplish that goal. Visit www.e2language.com and let’s get to it!
