How to take a Free IELTS Mock Test in 2022

Hi, my name is Jay and in this blog, I’m going to talk to you about the importance of taking a full Ielts mock test with E2 before your actual test. There are a number of reasons why taking an IELTS mock/practice exam is a critical first step on your IELTS journey.

Why take an IELTS Mock Test in 2022?

So let me guess: You need to take IELTS in 2022, right? Perhaps you need to take IELTS for immigration/migration, IELTS for university entrance or IELTS for employment. Maybe you need a 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5 or even an 8! You may need to take the test tomorrow, next week, next month or in 6 months’ time. Whatever the case may be, you need to start thinking about it NOW, and the first thing you need to do is take a full IELTS mock test in 2022.

The reason why you should do a mock test straight away is to find out WHERE you stand in relation to the test scores you need. If you take an IELTS practice test and realise that you are only a 5 when you need an 8 and you only have a couple of weeks, well, you’re in trouble. Whereas, if you take a mock test now, well before your test date, then you can prepare adequately and avoid a lot of stress.

The main people stress about their IELTS test date in 2022 is not because they are short by 1 or 2 IELTS band scores, it’s because they don’t have the time to improve their IELTS scores. With the right IELTS practice materials and enough time, you can get any score you want!

But an IELTS mock test is not just about getting scores. It’s a lot more important than that. A full IELTS online practice test will provide you with two other critical pieces of information…

The first is an experience of what it’s like to take an IELTS test under timed conditions. In other words, it will provide IELTS test like simulation. This is critically important. You need to know how it feels to sit there and take an IELTS listening test, followed by an IELTS reading test, followed by an IELTS writing test. This is nearly three hours of very intense intellectual pressure. It’s a marathon, and the best way to prepare for a marathon is to train by running half marathons. That’s exactly what an IELTS full mock test does.

The E2 Free Full IELTS Mock/Practice Test

But there’s another reason why taking an IELTS practice test online is critical. Aside from getting an IELTS band score indication, as well as having test day experience and simulation, you get feedback on your IELTS writing and speaking and answers explanation. This is essential if you want to get your IELTS scores as soon as possible. The E2 IELTS Full Mock Test on YouTube is PERFECT for this reason. This is how it works:

IELTS Listening Section

You take the IELTS listening mock test with Jay, who will explain to you how all of the question types work. You then get to try it for yourself. And then Jay explains the answers to you and shows you WHY the answers are the way they are. Even the official IELTS mock tests by Cambridge don’t do this. They only show you if you got the answer right or wrong. This isn’t helpful. You need to know WHY you got it right or wrong. Only then can you truly build the confidence you need for test day. The same applies to the IELTS reading mock test section. Jay explains the question types to you – multiple choice, matching, diagram labelling, you name it! – and then

he explains why the answers are the way they are. You try your best but then have the answers revealed. It’s a satisfying experience, not like taking an official IELTS mock test that doesn’t show you anything other than RIGHT / WRONG. You need to know WHY.

IELTS Writing Section

Most people tend to struggle with IELTS writing. Statistically, it is the most difficult section of the test. There are many reasons why IELTS candidates fail to get the scores they need in IELTS writing, but one of the main reasons is they aren’t ready. You become ready by firstly finding out what your weaknesses are, working on your weaknesses so they become strengths, and then taking the test with a new found sense of confidence, a sense of confidence that comes from knowing, not hoping.

The first time I took the IELTS – and I’ve taken it 5 times! – the night before my test I started to freak out. I wondered whether I knew all the important little details. I remember calling another E2 teacher to ask her what “YOU CAN WRITE NO MORE THAN ONE MORE WORD AND/OR A NUMBER” meant. Really, I should have done an IELTS mock test before my test day as well. It would have certainly decreased my anxiety leading up to and the night before my test.

You will feel much better about your IELTS writing test because you will have feedback from someone who knows the IELTS writing criteria back to front – our E2 expert teachers! Only when you know what you are doing wrong can you then improve. If you don’t know the mistakes you’re making, how can you possibly improve upon them?

IELTS Speaking Section

And now, let’s talk about the importance of taking an IELTS speaking mock test. This is important for the same reason as writing in that you need feedback, but for IELTS speaking the other important aspect is ‘feeling’ what the exam is like when you do it.

No doubt, the one part of the IELTS exam that scares people the most is IELTS speaking. Sitting one on one with an IELTS examiner can be a scary experience, but it doesn’t have to be.

The first time we do anything in life it’s always a little bit awkward and at times scary. But if you’ve done it before then all of a sudden the fears dissipate. Don’t you think? It’s the same when you take an IELTS speaking practice test with an expert teacher. The key is to actually feel those fears!

You’ll find that they’re not actually that scary after all. Sure, you might get a little bit nervous and your hands will sweat and your heart will race, but is that the end of the world? NO. Knowing how the IELTS speaking exam works by doing it will make a world of difference to how you approach this test on test day.

And of course, feedback is crucial as well. Our E2 teachers will give you all the feedback you need so on test day you know exactly what to do and what not to do.

So, all in all, it is critical that you take an IELTS mock exam with E2 as the starting point in your IELTS journey, and the sooner you take the E2 IELTS mock test the better your whole experience will be because
