The Oxford Word of the Year is a word or expression that has attracted a great deal of interest over the last 12 months to reflect the ethos, mood, or preoccupations of that particular year and to have lasting potential as a word of cultural significance.
Transcript:
Today we learn what the Oxford Dictionary considers the word of the year. And it is RIZZ. Never heard of it? Well, you’re not alone. RIZZ is Internet slang for romantic appeal or charm and is a shortened version of the word charisma. It’s apparently most used by generation Z. Other contenders for the number one spot include SWIFTIE, a fan, of course, of Miss Taylor (Swift), BEIGE FLAG, which means a boring partner, and SITUATIONSHIP, a relationship that’s not officially a relationship.
