Different types of English from Across the Globe: British vs. American

For some years now, linguists have understood that English has moved from being a second language to becoming a global instrument of communication. Therefore, it is accepted that there is an English “language” spoken in the United States and regionally within it, which is somewhat different from that in England, South Africa, Australia, India, and virtually all countries. Soon, each country will have its own English language. In a few years, when someone asks if your English is American or British, you might say neither, or a little of both, or a mixture of several!
