French Learning Courses

Over the years I have done countless courses in several languages some have been very good and others have been very bad. I will only mention the ones that I would consider worthwhile and courses that I would follow in other languages.

Pimsleur French Level's 1,2,3 are very good but, also somewhat boring. Each level has about 30 minutes of material that can be followed on any devise that can play mp3 files. If you give it your full attention one should be able to reach a reasonable level in the French language. But, I would strongly advise further practice and study. unfortunately the Pimsleaur method is not cheap. It is possible to find offers with audible where you could get the course very cheaply or for free with a subscription.

It might be possible to find a copy in your local library.

 Linguaphone All Talk French

I have used the Linguaphone All Talk in a few languages and it is fairly good. It is somewhat dated and one should be able to get a used copy cheaply from ebay. It is an audio course that is on CD but, can be found openly available as a mp3 on many websites. It is a worthwhile course following and after the course one should be able to communicate in most common situations and be able to understand much of what is heard around you in a French speaking country.

The following is a description from Linguaphone

16 hours of quality French tuition. Take your All Talk course with you wherever you go! This 16-hour language course from Linguaphone is perfect for the complete beginner or for those who already have the basics of the French language and want to refresh and improve. Our entertaining story lines will keep you interested and motivated, as our character George, visits Paris for the first time. It’s the perfect backdrop to help you learn a vocabulary of over 2000 French words, whilst at the same time practising and developing your French phrases and oral and aural skills to a high level. The All Talk method keeps you motivated as you learn and allows you to control your progress.
