Metterci o Volerci? An additional note.

The verb METTERCI also has other use besides what we have just seen. It is a use related to the verb METTERE with its usual meaning (to PUT), plus the pronoun locative CI indicating a place (THERE).

Here are some examples.

• Nella pizza CI METTI la bufala o il fiordilatte? (CI = nella pizza)
• In tutte le cose che faccio CI METTO passione. (CI = nelle cose che faccio)
• Cosa hai messo nel minestrone? CI HO MESSO anche un pò di curcuma. (CI = nel minestrone)

In all these cases METTERCI indicates “putting something in a place” and the CI refers exactly to the place.
