NEW DELHI:

Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday called upon all leaders, workers and supporters of the Indian National Congress to come out in large numbers to make the Jan Akrosh Rally on April 29, 2018, at the Ramlila Maidan here a  historic success.

Speaking at a meeting called for reviewing the arrangements for the rally at his Delhi residence which was attended by Congress leaders and workers from across the state, he said every worker in Haryana would go all out to make the rally a grand success.

“While the weather is not conducive to holding a massive rally, Congress President Rahul Gandhi has called for a rally considering the anti-people and devastating policies of the BJP government.Rahul ji has called for the rally to highlight the problems and miseries of the people, destruction of our constitutional institutions and give a voice to the desperation of the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, women, minorities, farmers, the working class and the youth who are struggling to find employment,” Mr. Hooda said.

He added that this is the first major rally after Rahul Gandhi took over as the Congress President. He expressed his gratitude to the Congress President for providing him the opportunity to draft a resolution on agriculture. “It is a matter of great pride for all of us that the resolution was accepted as it is and would help change the fortunes of the agrarian community after the Congress returns to power. We would ensure that the farmer is debt free, the farmer gets a fair price in line with the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission which would cover the costs of transportation and ensure 50 per cent profit for the farmer,” he said.

Talking about Haryana, he said the present BJP government has set new records in incompetence and corruption. People in the government have snatched Dal from the plates of the poor while their involvement in the mining scam tells us that they have also been able to digest stones. The government has gone to unprecedented lows by indulging in scam in the distribution of free medicines and putting a rate list and auctioning jobs.

Today, everyone in Haryana, the farmer, trader, government employee and the working class, are all in deep anguish. The farmer has been hit the hardest as prices of mustard, sugarcane, sunflower, Bajra, cotton and several other commodities have crashed. There is despair everywhere and with your support, we will start the next leg of the Jankranti Yatra in the state after the Jan Akrosh Rally.

When asked questions on identity, the former Chief Minister said our large presence at the rally would be our strength and added that we have added to the strength of the Congress in every event organized by the party. After the meeting, he identified district level coordinators to ensure that Congress workers and supporters turned out in large numbers as mark of their support for the new Congress president.

Speaking at the occasion Rohtak MP and Whip in the Congress Parliamentary Party Deepender Singh Hooda launched a full-frontal attack on the BJP government. He called on all Congress workers from the state to make the April 29 rally a grand success.

The BJP alleges that the Congress has done nothing for the last 70 years but the truth is that the BJP has set many records of its own. When the Congress demitted office, the total NPAs were at Rs one lakh crore which has gone to Rs 6 lakh crore under BJP and almost 70% of the wealth is now with the richest 1% families. The BJP claimed to have brought in demonetization for brining out black-money but they constructed magnificent offices across the country,” he said.

He said the BJP government has demeaned and destroyed the credibility of institutions which had developed over the years. “From Parliament to the Vidhan Sabha, media to the judiciary, this government has undermined each & every institution,” he said and added that the BJP and its government has gone back on every promise and have not taken any step to bring relief to the people in these difficult times.

The highlight of the meeting was that 14 sitting Congress MLAs, including Kuldeep Bishnoi, were present.
