CHANDIGARH:

Senior Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader and  Leader of the Opposition in Haryana Assembly Abhay Singh Chautala asserted that the symbolic stopping of vehicles entering Haryana on Monday from Punjab would be carried out with firm resolve by party workers.

Talking to the media here, he accused the BJP regime and its ministers of trying to mislead the people by making false statements regarding the personal appeals of  Chief Minister Manohar Lal to him to withdraw the current campaign.

He vociferously denied the claims of Education Minister  Ram Bilas Sharma that Mr.Manohar Lal had spoken to him regarding this issue.

He pointed out that the movement to get the verdict of the Supreme Court regarding the completion of the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal peacefully had gone through various phases, including submission of memorandums, staging of dharnas and demonstrations and had now reached the critical stage where the INLD was constrained to stop all traffic coming from Punjab.

He added that five points bordering Punjab had been identified where senior leaders of the party would lead the workers and volunteers in stopping the vehicles.

He charged that the State and Union Governments had failed to ensure that the orders of the Apex Court were implemented.

INLD State President Ashok Arora and other senior leaders were present.
