“The maze wasn’t meant for you.”

Fair warning: If you haven’t watched Westworld Season 1, then don’t read the following post unless you want all the plot spoilers.

Dr. Robert Ford is dead.

In the final episode, Ford, the co-creator of Westworld, created a new story and simultaneously orchestrated his death — having Delores shoot him (the way she shot Arnold).

And Bernard turned out to be a Host-version of Arnold Weber — Ford’s old partner.

Ford also made Bernard shoot himself in the head, but Maeve had him brought back online.

With Felix’s (the lab tech) help, of course.

The Man in Black (Ed Harris) turned out to be an older version of William (Jimmi Simpson).

Meaning young William’s storyline was happening roughly 30 years in the past.

Speaking of the past, did you notice the older, different Westworld logo when we first met young William?

Keep your eye out for Easter eggs like this in Season 2 — if you see the old logo, it probably means we’re having a flashback again!

After we saw young William turn “bad” and choose his famous black hat, he then sent his soon-to-be-brother-in-law Logan off, buck naked on a horse at the edge of the park.

And, in case you’re wondering, Ben Barnes will be back as Logan in Season 2.

Remember this photo? It turned out to be a picture of Logan’s sister, William’s fiancé Juliet.

Old William talked about having a wife and kids…was he talking about Juliet? (Probably.) We may find out more in Season 2.

The character “Wyatt” that old William was searching for throughout most of Season 1 turned out to be Delores.

More specifically, Wyatt was a character created a long time ago, whose personality was merged with Delores’ by Arnold back in the day.

There was a “maze” that Arnold had created, which old William was obsessed with finding — although, it turned out that the maze was meant for the Hosts. Not the guests.

There was an actual maze puzzle buried in the grave that Delores found, too, but it was meant to be like metaphor/reminder for the Hosts (specifically, Delores).

Everyone thought the reveries (the small gestures) the Hosts started showing were created by Ford, but it turned out they were actually created by Arnold.

This was code that would provide the base layer for Arnold’s pyramid theory of creating life (those layers being: Memory, Improvisation, Self-Interest…and we don’t know what on top!).

When we last saw Maeve, she was THIS CLOSE to escaping the park when she changed her mind, got off the train, and went back into the park to find her daughter.

Felix even told Maeve exactly where in the park her daughter could be found.

And, in case you thought, “Oh, but that was written into her new narrative” — take a look at THIS detail you probably missed.

It’s hard to see, but her script here says, “MAINLAND INFILTRATION,” as well as, “ESCAPE FUNCTION,” which, as you know, she did NOT do. So, yeah, she’s improvising on her own now. (Which the show’s creators basically confirmed in an interview with Vulture.)

Maeve’s partner-in-crime Felix is still around and somehow still has a job.

Seriously, has no one seen security footage of him and Maeve yet? (She probably deleted it all, clever girl.)

And, although she had her brain drilled, good ol’ Clementine is still around too!

Albeit, with a bit of a ~rind~ on her.

Teddy is alive, too, and STILL playing the part of the guy who’d do anything for Delores.

Although, probably a bit shocked after seeing Dolores shoot Ford.

Also, IDK if you remember, but there was this cool detail where you could literally SEE him remembering what happened to him by the end of Episode 1.

A rude awakening.

Hector went out, guns-blazing, to help Maeve escape — so, he was probably killed, but for sure will be back in Season 2.

CAN’T WAIT.

Same with his pal Armistice.

The last we saw, in a post-credit sequence in the finale episode, she tore her own arm off and, well, we can only assume killed rest of the security team there.

Don’t forget, the company running this park (and a bunch of other parks, including Shogun World— which will be heavily featured in Season 2) is called Delos.

Delos Incorporated, if you want to get specific.

And William is a Delos board member (as well as a major shareholder).

Though we have yet to find out just how he got there.

Charlotte Hale is the Executive Director of the board.

And she definitely DGAF.

And we saw her attempting to steal the entire Westworld park’s code/data using the host body of Peter Abernathy (Delores’ original dad).

She convinced that weasel Lee to help her.

The last we saw of Charlotte, she was running away when the Hosts started attacking the guests during Ford’s big ~send off~.

Turnabout is fair play?

Oh, yeah, and don’t forget that poor Theresa is dead.

Ford had Bernard kill her in a secret workspace under his secret house where a bunch of host recreations of his own family lived. (Arnold had built these hosts for him a long time ago).

As is Elsie…although MAYBE NOT?

She was attacked while investigating a strange satellite transmission — and it was eventually revealed to be Bernard who attacked her (under Ford’s control, of course). Whether she was KILLED though was not confirmed.

The last time we saw Stubbs, he was attacked by a Ghost Nation warrior.

But he’s probably still alive, too, albeit a bit fucked up.

Lawrence is still alive, the last time we saw him he was happy and performing card tricks for guests.

Wouldn’t trust him, TBH.

For a minute, we thought Teddy REALLY brought Delores to the place where “the mountains meet the sea,” but it turned out to just be a part of a “new” narrative.

Or, at least, that’s what Ford wanted the board to think was his new narrative.

Ford’s new narrative actually turned out to be chaos, effectively, about the Hosts remembering what happened — much to old William’s delight, too!

One of the last things we saw was the Hosts attacking the guests, kinda hammering home the old saying, “These violent delights have violent ends.” (Which, BTW, is a line from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet in case you were wondering.)

And finally, Delores did reach the center of Arnold’s Maze.

She said, “And now I finally understand what you were trying to tell me. The thing you’ve wanted since that very first day. To confront, after this long and vivid nightmare…myself and who I must become.”
