A Farmer’s Karmic Relationship

A Taiwanese man recently spoke about an experience that alarmed him. It was his neighbor’s vision of karma in another dimension. He tells his story now to help others understand the need to be good, and not just to other people, but to all living things!

Chan’s neighbor was an old Farmer. He used to sun-dry his crops in the yard before storing them away. As they lay out there in the sun, ducks and chickens from the neighborhood would come to eat them. It made the old farmer mad seeing his hard work demolished by the unwelcome animals. In his anger, he chased them away with a rod. However, they would reappear the minute he turned his back.

He was so angry that he used a big fishing net to trap them, and every time he caught one, he would vent his anger by breaking one of its legs with his bare hands. All of these animals were crippled as a result. Seeing him using such a brutal way to hurt the animals, neighbors told him to stop. However, the old man did not listen, and persisted.

A few years later, the old farmer lost his ability to walk. His feet swelled and started to rot. The unbearable pain had him yelling and screaming uncontrollably, day and night. His sickness persisted despite trying every remedy and cure he could think of. He suffered for six years before he died.

This futile effort got him nowhere, and he died in misery in the end. (Image: pixabay / CC0 1.0)

Many neighbors recalled that the old man frequently yelled and opened up his hands as if he were driving animals away in the last few months prior to his passing. When asked why he did so, he said because he “saw” a flock of ducks and chickens with broken legs pecking at his own legs, which tore open the skin and flesh and caused him excruciating pain, so he had to drive them away. This futile effort got him nowhere, and he died in misery in the end.
