In today’s China, in spite of rapid economic growth, there are still five basic things many Chinese people yearn for.
Justice
The Chinese need rule of law to give them a sense of justice. Without this to support and strengthen their morality, the nation will despise those who control the masses, and human life will have no value.
Fair play
Officials driven by money and power try to get wealthy using every means. Life for the average Chinese is hopeless.
Faith
For over 100 years, Chinese people have been searching for righteous beliefs. The Communist Party lays down certain laws governing what people are allowed to believe in, which contradict reality. Chinese are totally confused about what to believe in, even if they want to.
Trust
Lying has become the norm in Chinese society and such a strong habit that many people find it hard to tell the truth. This undermines the fabric of society.
Institutional integrity
The judicial system needs a series of checks and balances in place for legislation and execution, with supervision at the grass roots level.
