Based in New York, Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra is comprised of outstanding musicians from various countries. It is part of Shen Yun Performing Arts, and accompanies its dance company on its world tour.
Shen Yun Performing Arts is a classical Chinese dance company established in 2006 in New York with the mission to revive the 5,000-year divinely inspired Chinese culture. It has five equally sized companies that tour the world each year with new performances. Shen Yun performing Arts has performed over 500 shows in over 100 major cities, and has been widely acclaimed by people from all walks of life.
Shen Yun’s music is unique in that it is performed by an orchestra that combines traditional Chinese and classical Western musical instruments.

All-original compositions draw upon five millennia of culture and legends. Western strings, percussion, woodwinds, and brass accentuate the sound of ancient Chinese instruments — such as the two-stringed erhu and the plucked pipa. Never before have the exquisite beauty of Chinese melodies and the grandeur of a Western symphony been so seamlessly combined.

The Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra made its international debut at Carnegie Hall in New York in October 2012, and kicked off its world tour in 2016. It has just completed its 2017 Asia tour in South Korea and Taiwan. This year marks the second year that the orchestra has traveled to these two countries, where it staged two performances in South Korea and 15 in Taiwan during the month of September.

During Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra’s Asia tour this year, it was highly praised by audience members, both in Taiwan and South Korea.

Having concluded the Asian leg of its 2017 Concert Tour, the Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra will continue its North American tour in Canada and the United States, with a performance in Toronto on October 11, followed by the performances in Boston, New York, and Washington, D.C.
