The Benton Panthers will square off against Parkview on Friday, Nov. 21 in the second round of the Class 6A playoff game.

Benton, which won the 6A South Conference with a 9-0-1 record, won a bye in the first round of the playoffs on Nov. 14. The Panthers’ goal, of course, is to advance to the State Championship game to be played at War Memorial Stadium on Dec. 5.

To get to that game, however, the Panthers will have to take care of Parkview at home on Friday and then defeat another opponent on Nov. 28.

For those keeping score at home, Benton defeated Parkview 28-19 in an away game on 9/26. Parkview took care of Searcy 47-27 in the first round of the playoffs on Nov. 14. Should Benton defeat Parkview, the Panthers will take on the Winner of the Greenwood/El Dorado game.

By the way, Benton is coming off its first undefeated season in school history. The Panthers haven’t brought home a state championship title since 1977.
