Indonesia: Airline staff plummets from Airbus A320 (video)Legacy

A jaw-dropping video has emerged showing an airline staff member’s terrifying fall from an Airbus A320 after a step ladder was prematurely retracted.

The incident, caught on camera and shared by Sanjay Lazar on X, has quickly gone viral, leaving viewers stunned and authorities scrambling for answers.

The footage, reportedly taken in Indonesia and involving Transnusa Airlines, shows the staff member disembarking through the passenger door, oblivious to the retracted ladder. As he steps out, he plummets to the tarmac, papers flying from his grasp in a chaotic flutter.

Despite the video’s widespread circulation, neither Indonesian authorities nor Transnusa Airlines have issued an official statement, leaving the incident shrouded in mystery. The exact date of the occurrence remains unknown.

This shocking event follows a series of recent in-flight incidents. In February, chaos erupted on a Thai Airways flight when a Canadian tourist opened the plane door as it prepared for takeoff from Chiang Mai to Bangkok. Officials quickly removed the passenger, raising concerns about what might have happened if the aircraft had been airborne.

Last year, another viral video captured the alarming moment when a passenger attempted to open the emergency hatch mid-flight on an IndiGo flight from Guwahati to Agartala in India. Passengers and crew members subdued the man, later identified as 41 year old Debnath, who was reportedly under the influence of narcotics, reported Ary News.

He was subsequently arrested.

In related news, Thai Vietjet has abruptly cancelled its direct flights between Chiang Rai, in northern Thailand, and Phuket, a favourite destination on the Andaman Sea coast. The budget airline remained tight-lipped about the sudden suspension. However, the timetable for May 1 to 31, filed with Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai International Airport and posted on its Facebook page, indicates that the final flight on this route was on May 12.

In other news, During a visit to Hua Hin on Monday, May 13, Prime Minister Srettha revealed his support for renaming the airport to Phetch-Hua Hin.
