Thai tourism is undergoing a digital revolution as Alipay+ teams up with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to redefine the travel experience.

With an aim to attract more tourists and enhance their journey, the duo unveils an array of innovations that promise seamless exploration and unforgettable memories.

In a joint statement, Alipay+ and TAT announced groundbreaking developments set to revolutionise Thailand’s tourism landscape.

Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, TAT’s Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Asia and the South Pacific stated that TAT is leading the charge in transforming Thai tourism with Alipay+.

The collaboration introduces Alipay+ D-hub, a bespoke in-app mini-programme offering indispensable travel insights, local hotspots, and comprehensive guides to Thai destinations, making it the first of its kind globally.

Moreover, the partnership aims to stimulate the economy, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), across Thailand by leveraging Alipay+’s widespread coverage and user-friendly interface.

Edward Yue, General Manager of Ant International, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand & Global Strategic Partnerships, expressed enthusiasm about the future prospects.

“We are committed to introducing innovations that enrich the travel experience in Thailand, empowering tourists to explore, shop, and dine with unparalleled convenience.”

From January to April, Thailand welcomed a record-breaking 12,127,447 international arrivals, with Alipay+ witnessing a remarkable 70% surge in transactions during the same period.

Furthermore, Alipay+ revealed a 52% increase in transactions during Songkran this year, showcasing the effectiveness of joint marketing efforts in enhancing tourist engagement.

To ensure seamless transactions, Alipay+ has expanded its merchant coverage to over 400,000 outlets across Thailand, including smaller regions like Nakhon Phanom and Chanthaburi, besides major cities.

With plans underway to integrate Alipay+ into the Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS), transportation will become an integral part of the tourist experience, reported Technode Global.

As the Alipay+ ecosystem continues to evolve, tourists can expect unparalleled convenience, enabling them to immerse fully in the vibrant culture and diverse offerings of Thailand.
