A 68 year old Chinese woman tragically drowned in the swimming pool of her residence near Pattaya on Tuesday, May 14. The unsettling discovery has left the local community reeling as authorities scramble to uncover the details.

Police Lieutenant Siriyaporn Kongphetsak, Deputy Investigator of the Nongprue Police Station, received the distressing call and swiftly dispatched a team of rescue workers to the scene, located in a village near the Mapprachan Reservoir in Banglamung district, Chon Buri province.

Upon their arrival, authorities found Zhang Weijing, a 68 year old Chinese national, floating lifelessly face down in the pool. Despite their best efforts, Zhang was pronounced dead at the scene. A thorough examination of the premises revealed no signs of struggle or foul play, adding an air of mystery to the incident.

According to neighbour Yupha Jankeaw, it was Zhang’s daughter who made the grim discovery. Returning home around 7pm after running errands, she found her mother’s body in the pool. Stricken with grief, she immediately alerted the authorities, reported Pattaya News.

Police officers meticulously photographed the scene and arranged for the body to be sent for autopsy to determine the precise cause of death.

In related news, tragedy struck at a swimming pool in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, China, when a 25 year old swimming coach drowned while practising holding his breath underwater. Colleagues filming the session failed to recognise the emergency, continuing to record even as the coach’s condition deteriorated, leading to his eventual death.

In other news, in Phuket, a foreign woman’s body was discovered floating in the waters off Freedom Beach on May 1. Karon police received word of the grim find around 2.45pm.

A subsequent recovery mission was swiftly assembled, with Kusoldharm Foundation rescue workers utilising a rubber dinghy to retrieve the body and transport it ashore near Nong Harn Lake in Karon.
