While Nitish Kumar and BJP have announced their seat-sharing plan for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the RJD-Congress alliance has not opened their card yet. The left parties are also not disclosing their stand, although all the three are opposed to Nitish-BJP alliance. It is learnt that Nitish would contest the Lok Sabha Election. The seat sharing announcement followed a meeting between Upendra Kushwaha, leader of RLSP and BJP general secretary Bhupendra Yadav, where Kushwaha declared that his party will remain in the alliance. The chief minister seems to be satisfied after discussions with BJP president Amit Shah about the distribution of tickets but Ramvilas Paswan has still not decided and, according to sources he will decide after the festival season is over.
RAJASTHAN SEAT DISTRIBUTION DIRECTLY FROM CENTRE
The BJP central leadership has decided to take up the distribution of Rajasthan assembly tickets on its own, for which a central committee has been constituted. The committee is now meeting with the party workers and taking their views. It is also asking chief minister Vasundhra Raje and Ashok Parnami to stop the interview for candidates, resulting in confusion among the ticket aspirants. Central minister Prakash Javdekar has declared that Vasundhara will continue to be the party’s chief minister candidate, but the ticket distribution will be decided by the central leadership. On the other hand, Congress has decided not to project any name for the chief minister. Both Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot are in the race and are accompanying Rahul Gandhi in his election rallies and meetings.
AAP TO CONTEST 100 LOK SABHA SEATS
The AAP party has started full fledged campaign for the coming Lok Sabha election from 21 October in Delhi, with chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi unit convenor and minister Gopal Rai, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and other ministers, MLAs and municipal councilors undertaken door to door visits in their respective constituencies. The campaign will continue till December and the party will hold another intensive door to door campaign in March 2019 just before the Lok Sabha election. Delhi has seven Lok Sabha seats and all are currently held by the BJP. AAP leaders say their primary focus this time is on winning the maximum number seats in Delhi. The party is planning to contest 100 seats all over India, according to sources, in alliance with other parties, which will be decided later.
RAJA BHAIYYA TO FLOAT PARTY
Raghuraj Pratap Singh, also known as Raja Bhaiyya, the six-time independent MLA from Kunda constituency in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh, is likely to launch his own political party. The announcement is expected on or before November 30, according to former MP Shailendra Kumar and MLA Vinod Kumar Saroj. Raja Bhaiyya has confirmed that they have completed the process to register a new political party with the Election Commission and hope to get the approval soon. The new party, to be known as Jansatta Party, will contest the Lok Sabha election. The move is being seen by many as a political posturing ahead of the elections. According to political observers in Lucknow, Amar Singh is the brain behind the move. (IPA)
