Temperatures in the hottest part of the U.S. state of California recorded 52.7 Degrees Celsius for four consecutive days.
The Californian “valley of death”, considered one of the hottest places on earth, recorded temperatures of 52.7 degrees Celsius between July 25 and 27 last year.
The heat here is so high that it is considered to be on a par with that in desert areas such as the Sahara Desert and certain areas of the Middle East.
The high temperatures, however, do little to deter tourists, who voluntarily travel to the local visitor centers to have their pictures taken in one of the hottest places on earth.
The high temperatures in this valley are due to the presence of hot air, the low rainfall and its position below sea level, which contributes, together with the surrounding mountainous areas, to trapping the heat.
However, the 52.7 degrees Celsius has not even been the highest temperature recorded in the valley. In 2013, temperatures reached 53.8 degrees Celsius in the shade.
