Congress Mla Siddu Nyamagouda of Karnataka died in a road accident today in the early morning as stated by the police. He was the newly appointed MLA of Congress.
The MLA OF jamkhadi was on a road trip. He was returning to his hometown from Goa. His home district is at Bagalkhot. When the car was on its way to his home, it suddenly hit a truck near Tulasigeri area of Karnataka.
The local police also mentioned that the seriously injured Siddu Nyamagouda has been taken to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, the medical authorities declared that he was dead.
Siddu Nyamagouda was a lawmaker. He was of 70 years old. Basically, he visited New Delhi first and then he returned to Goa via flight. Then he proceeded to travel towards his hometown via car. He was re-elected in Bagalkhot district this year again by defeating his opposition leader Shrikanth Subbarao Kulkarni by more than 2500 votes. He was from BJP.
The last rites of the MLA are to be done by today itself. Various other senior leaders from Congress are expected to be attended. Siddu Nyamagouda was the union cabinet minister during the rule of P V Narasimha Rao ministry in the year 1990-96.
He stayed with his wife along with his three daughters and two sons.
Karnataka Congress Government tweeted by posting the deepest condolence message. They said “Deepest condolences on the passing away of our senior leader and Jamkhandi MLA, Shri Siddu B Nyamagouda. The Congress party stands by his family in this hour of grief.”
The MLA was re-elected this year to the Karnataka Assembly Election in 12th May polls. He was a competitor for a ministerial seat in a new Congress-JD(S) Government which is headed by Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy.
Former Chief Minister of Karnataka also tweeted a condolence message. He tweeted that “The untimely death of our party MLA Siddu Nyamagouda has shocked me. Siddu Nyamagouda served as an MLA, an MP and Union Minister. My friend will be sadly missed.” He wrote this tweet in Kannada.
MLA Siddu Nyamagouda was well known as a leader of farmers. He earned his fame by constructing a barrage at Chikkapadasalgi are in Jamkhandi. That barrage is still called as the lifeline for farmers who cultivate sugarcane of Jamkhandi and Athani of Belagavi district.
By the following death, the BJP district unit in Bagalkot has withdrawn a bandh in the district to pay homage to the deceased leader.
